We continue on in our A series with a mix up of the Abbey theater and abbreviation.  I really enjoy learning about history that doesn't come in front of often.  Television shows in English feature the same dynasties/monarchies over and over.  Today we get the chance to read about the Abd-Al-Wadid Dynasty in Northern Africa.  We also learn about a resistance leader Abd-El-Krim in the Moroccan Rif mountains.  

The encyclopedia is incredibly brief in the details it chooses to include.  It often makes very complex people or existences seem very orderly.  I'm not sure how I feel about it.  I don't think I could personally contribute to the writing and editing of an encyclopedia.

Today we learn about abaca fibre and the abacus

I knew the abacus would be very interesting and held a lot of history across different countries.  Learning about history for me is learning how interwoven our world has always been and how much we have always borrowed and learned from one another

Words I want to remember to look up for a future mix-up episode: cordage, perennial 

Reminder to bother my German friend and get her to pronounce some of these German words for us properly as I know I completely butchered these pronunciations

Feel very bad for butchering these German names, but was wonderful to learn about a place and its history.  I have a close friend who lived in Germany for many years so I am looking forward to asking her if she has ever been there, and maybe convince her to say everything properly for me to hear.
