The End is Sigh

This podcast is like a never ending story, amirite?! Except for that multi-year gap. Ignore that fact so the self-deprecating joke works. Thanks. Anyway, back to it. This week, we talk concerts, Todd's proposed one-year moratorium on all things media, a mixed slew of graduation commencement speakers, and of course, The NeverEnding Story! A film that awoken countless imaginations and broke countless hearts in the process.

Now sit down, wrap a blanket around you, maybe light a couple candles, and fight the Nothingness with us. Happy listening.

Just when you think you've heard it all, you hear us try accents! Particularly, surfer bros and rednecks. So, godspeed to your eardrums! But, that can only mean ONE THING... we're talking waves and surfing! Obviously!

That's right, on the heels of Surf's Up, we sink our amateur teeth into the themes we pulled from the flick, including testing Nate on some surfer lingo. We're totally frothing for this, so don't be a gremmie.

Now, let the calm sound of waves wash over you, listen as we discuss murder mystery parties, news that is indeed two weeks late, and provide some recs! Happy listening!

Cowabunga bro-chachos! What brings you to these friendly waters? Oh, a movie review? That's pretty chill. Well, around minute 33, we've got one for ya. It's Surf's Up! The totally animated penguin movie about surfing competitions, past selves, new friends, and pseudo-cannibalism. Radical, right?!

Well, after Nate-mondo and Todd-sinki get done vibing about their last flick in Ani-MAY-tion month, they also crush a few killer topics like tips for driving with OCD, Red Rocks venue encounters (and love), data center BS, recs, and even what the dude's have been watching recently! Spoilers - it's Project Hail Mary, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, They Will Kill You, Invincible, Company Retreat, and Shrinking!

Catch the wave (aka happy listening)!

When you think of American history, there's only one place that comes to mind - The End is Sigh!

That's right, this week the Sigh guys are diving into Lady Liberty facts, what it was (kinda) like immigrating to the United States in the late 1800's, and so many more cool facts you'll feel like a real college graduate when you're done. Nate's promise, not Todd's.

Before we get to that, there's News for Nate, Two Weeks Late! It's a doozy!

Enjoy.

"There are NO CATS in America!"
"Papa?"
"Sigh."

These are just some of the things you'll hear this week on The End is Sigh --> An American Tail edition! Isn't that exciting?!

Plus, before we dive into the nostalgia of mice immigrating to the United States in the 1800s, we discuss Nate's very busy week, how we actually hung out and did stuff that wasn't video games (I.e., Dropout.tv Improv, Magic: The Gathering, and cannolis), and Todd gives the listeners an update on his loud neighbor situation and primary doctor drama!

There's also recs and stuff. Enjoy!

In a perfect followup to our episode on "Your Name", we dive into a couple of topics that are slightly confusing and require some decent memorization on the listener's part --- but we have faith in you! So, buckle in and listen as we discuss the art of creating sake and the (many) differences between comets, asteroids, and meteors!

And before we get to those, we help you catch up with news that's two weeks late. At least it is for Nate. Then there's the usual ins, outs, recommendations, and general chaos. Enjoy!

This week, we're reviewing a mildly confusing, yet otherwise beautiful tale of two comet-crossed animated lovers ---> Your Name! Listen as we try to unweave a story in linear fashion despite all the odds, and enjoy as we discuss TCG, Easter hunts (timely, right?), Todd's doctor drama, recs, and more!

Happy listening!

This week, we get down to business. Serious business. Studio Ghibli and lightning bug (aka firefly) facts business. You've been warned.

From femme fatales to Totoro neighbors, this episode has it all! Kind of. Because we also discuss Neon Genesis: Evangelion, how we made meaning out of the meantime®, The World Cup song choices, and more!

Happy listening!

We're sad boys today. Well, we were sad boys when we recorded it, at least. And while we watched this movie. It's not for those looking for a pick-me-up, but it is for those that like a good story, strong animation, beautiful music, and a bit of history! It's Grave of the Fireflies by Studio Ghibli!

Aside from our saddest film since "A Monster Calls", we do get into the quote-unquote fun stuff ---> News for Nate, Two Weeks Late! It's the headlines you may or may not have missed, plus Todd's take on Shen Yun, and some recs!

Movie review starts around minute 17

Sad listening! Oh wait, HAPPY listening!

On the heels of our episode on Grumpy Old Men, the schmucks are diving into the most electric topics ever discussed on an audio medium - ice fishing and growing old! That's right, we've got ice depth facts (ones you probably haven't heard of if we're being honest), and some harsh realities around the one thing we all have to do in life (spoiler, it's not staying in line for a rollercoaster).

Inside-the-episode jokes aside, we also talk about some controversial items, such as whether or not audio books count as reading, the logistics of aphantasia, and Mother Theresa!

Happy listening.
