March 02, 2022God’s sovereignty brings peace to the soul in troubled timesTimes may be scary, prices may be rising, but he will never let us beg bread or remain in fear. February 28, 2022Into the tempest: would you cut away the lifeboat?I was reading Acts 27 and the seafaring language was a wonderful reminder of days when I lived on a sailboat. Somedays were lazy, drifting along in puffs of wind on a glassy sea. Other days were tempestuous, the sea raging and the boat beating into waves that seemed to grow every higher. There was one rough overnight passage we made along the coast of New Jersey when daylight came we saw that the dinghy we’d trailed behind our yacht was missing. The rope had snapped. This episode is also available as a blog post: http://the-end-time.org/2022/02/28/into-the-tempest-would-you-cut-away-the-lifeboat-2/...more9minPlay

February 24, 2022We need to know historyWe should have a good grasp of American History (that is, if you live in America, if you’re reading this and live elsewhere, the same goes for knowledge of your own country’s history).British statesman Winston Churchill wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” He should know, he led Britain through WWII, emerging victorious against the Nazi Germans (barely).Though it is God who raises up governments and raises up (and puts down) leaders, it’s still important to be situationally aware of our immediate history and also the long-ago things that took place. Just as we say when reading a Bible verse, “context, context, context”, the same goes for history. This episode is also available as a blog post: http://the-end-time.org/2022/02/24/we-need-to-know-history/...more21minPlay
February 23, 2022John Bunyan’s conversion: Words of grace overheardSpeaking of Jesus often leads to conversions, Spurgeon said. Knowing this, will you speak of Jesus more often? Will I? Will I pray ahead of time for Him to open cracks in conversations and let words of strength and grace flow out, widening the very door that consciences want to close?Links mentioned in the podcast:Banner of Truth MagazineChapel LibrarySpurgeon's sermon in full hereIn parts with audio read aloud belowPart 1 herePart 2 herePart 3 herePart 4 herePart 5 herePart 6 herePart 7 hereThis episode is also available as a blog post: http://the-end-time.org/2022/02/23/john-bunyans-conversion-words-of-grace-overheard/...more9minPlay

February 19, 2022Christian Conversation, part 5In my ongoing series of reproducing a convicting and wonderful Charles Spurgeon Sermon, here is part 5. We need to speak of Jesus often, more than we do, really. Spurgeon said that was true in his day and it holds true todayYesterday's installment ended with Spurgeon saying he wished people spoke more of the duration of the Christ's kingdom till now. We often attribute honor to those kingdoms that have lasted long, but Christ's was founded in eternity past! It has been the longest existing kingdom in the universe!Spurgeon goes on to urge us to speak of the future duration of His eternal kingdom, then of God's sustaining power, His exalting power, and His providing power. This episode is also available as a blog post: http://the-end-time.org/2022/02/19/christian-conversation-part-5/...more14minPlay
