The making of an Eight is not really a mysterious thing once you understand how our brains work. Before we launch into a discussion about childhood wounds & 8s, we think it's important to introduce an intriguing theory called Object Relations. It suggests that we formed our type structure (in all its quirky glory) in relationship to the ways our caregivers failed to provide either the Nurture or Protection function. You have an ego. We all do. It's all those "I am" statements you've built into your identity over the years. The 8 ego has been notoriously labelled as a big one. Maybe it is, but we insist that it's no bigger than any other type's ego. It's just a lot louder. In this episode, we name some of the "I ams" that we held on tight to in order to survive childhood.
