After finding an AskReddit thread that took a deep dive into a lot of mental health issues faced by men that aren’t often talked about, I thought it would be a good idea to share my perspective, and add my voice to help show that it’s ok to be human and deal with tough issues.

Even though this is mainly focused around “men’s” mental health, I’m sure a lot of the issues are pretty universal, and more than anything, I’m just in favor of people working to better understand themselves and be happy.

This is a live presentation of my “Work Hard, Be Kind, Have Fun: Just Create More” workshop at the Educating for Careers Conference in Sacramento in March of 2019.

The talk details my story of how stepping back from my job as a digital media teacher and focusing on creating for myself helped to make me a happier person AND a better teacher.

In a world where “Hustle Culture” seems to be glorified more and more every day, I wanted to clarify a few things about the “Work Hard, Be Kind, Have Fun” slogan that I’ve been using for a number of years.

I also wanted to tie that into my thoughts on the “C” word– Content. And how “content creator” can be a damaging term that devalues the thing you’re spending valuable time creating.

This is a hot button issue in the camera world, and I’ve always been a pretty adamant member of #teamcanon. So, let me explain WHY and dive into a few of the reasons why I prefer Canon to Sony for my projects. I don’t think Canon gets the credit they deserve currently.

And nope, this isn’t a sponsored video, I just decided to defend a multi billion dollar corporation on my own thankyouverymuch!

This week I wanted to take some time to discuss the trend I’ve noticed where things and products are taking center stage for many content creators and how this impacts our ability to freely share and discuss ideas.

This also leads into how to effectively incorporate sponsorships and partnerships into your work without sacrificing your integrity or devaluing your personal brand.

I wanted to follow up last week's episode by sharing a short essay I wrote back in college that outlines a lot of my values towards time, life, dreams, and avoiding the plague of mediocrity that can easily take it all away.

I’ve been wanted to start a podcast for the past 10 years or so, but I figured it’d be best to wait until the market was super saturated and then jump in with no strategy. Sound like a plan?
