The theme of this season of the Entrepreneurial Clinician Podcast has been to equip allied health professionals to make more informed decisions about what support they need in their practice so they can thrive, rather than just survive.
So in the final episode of Season 3, Jo reflects on one of the most common questions asked by allied health professionals; how do I find a coach?
But before you think about looking for a coach, Jo has a question for you. A question you should consider and know the answer to before you seek out a coach.
Plus she explores a question you should be considering if you are running a course or workshop.

Many allied health professionals look to coaching as a way to diversify and maximise their income. But what is the distinction between coaching and therapy and what are some of the pitfalls for therapists who want to offer coaching services?
That’s the topic of this week’s conversation with Patrick Casale. After serving the community as a mental health professional for over a decade, Patrick began to leverage his ability to build and create authentic relationships to launch a successful 7-figure group practice and private coaching business. He is now a speaker, retreat planner, podcast host and business strategist.
In this conversation, Jo and Patrick discuss:
You can find out more about Patrick at https://www.allthingspractice.com/ or by following @allthingsprivatepractice on all the socials. Plus you can also listen to Patrick’s podcast, All Things Private Practice Podcast.

Coaching, consulting and training are three services often needed by allied health professionals who want to build a successful and sustainable practice. But what is the difference between them, how can you make sure you get the right support at the right time and what trends will allied health professions face in the next few years? Those questions (and more) are the topic of this wide-ranging conversation with Cathy Love.
Cathy is an Accredited Coach, Occupational Therapist, Author, Speaker, Podcaster, Optimist, and lover of pearls. She is the founding Director at Nacre Consulting, a company that provides practical business coaching programs dedicated to creating brilliance in others. Her clients include allied health business owners who manage businesses of all shapes and sizes. Cathy is also a Speaker, Podcaster and Author who is committed to being helpful and sharing what she knows far and wide. Cathy’s philosophy is that your business should enable your lifestyle and leave the world a better place.

When it comes to marketing your practice, questions about the need and value of headshots are very common. So in this episode, Jo is joined by John Lindroth who is a specialised headshot photographer.
Jo and John discuss the surprising problem with selfies, why the angle of your headshot can affect how much you are trusted by your audience and (potential) clients, why getting your friend who has a good camera to take your headshots isn’t enough if you want to build a trusted and successful practice and why it’s important to keep them up to date.
John has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Computer Science from Juniata College, and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Computing from the Medical University of South Carolina. He spent the first 25 years of his career as a programmer. John has spent the last 10 years in the behavioural health field as an office manager in his wife’s group practice. As a photographer, John started shooting professionally in 2010, with the subject matter of “anything but weddings”. As the pandemic started coming to an end in 2021, he decided to focus all his interest on headshot photography.

Sometimes as an allied health professional, you might be asked or called upon to give evidence in legal proceedings. In this wide-ranging conversation, Jo is joined by Nicol Stolar-Peterson who is a clinical social worker and experienced expert witness who now coaches therapists to help them prepare for the court environment.
In this wide-ranging conversation, Jo and Nicol discuss why Nicol says she feels blessed to be an expert witness, why we need to bust the myth about ‘overnight success’ and how Nicol’s practice has arisen from her own experience as an expert witness.
You can connect with Nicol and find out more about her at https://www.nicolstolar.com/ or via the Kid’s Court & Counselling Centre at https://www.kc-cc.org/

It’s hard enough to build and run a sustainable and successful practice. But how do you do that when you have a neurodiverse brain and the tactics and advice often given about running a practice aren’t designed for the way your brain operates? And how do you make sure your practice is more diverse and accessible to those who are neurodivergent?
That’s the question we explore in this week’s episode when Jo is joined by Amber Hawley. Amber is a licensed therapist and business mentor who helps ‘neurospicy’ (as she likes to call it) business owners get $hit done in a sustainable way that decreases the risk of burnout and increases satisfaction, profitability and overall happiness.
In this conversation, Jo and Amber discuss:

In this solo episode, Jo shares a major surprise that nearly derailed her plans for her 3 month sabbatical and how activating her resilience changed how Jo responded (rather than reacted) to the situation with a healthier mindset and, as a result, in a healthier way.
