On this episode, we discuss the forty-seventh Best Picture Winner: “THE GODFATHER PART II.”
Partially based on Mario Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather, "The Godfather Part II" is both a sequel and a prequel to "The Godfather," presenting parallel dramas: one picks up the 1958 story of Michael Corleone, the new Don of the Corleone crime family, protecting the family business in the aftermath of an attempt on his life; while the prequel covers the journey of his father, Vito Corleone, from his Sicilian childhood to the founding of his family enterprise in New York City. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the film stars Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, Robert De Niro as Vito Corleone, Diane Keaton as Kay Adams, Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen, John Cazale as Fredo Corleone, and Talia Shire as Connie Corleone.
