The Episode One Podcast

This time Steve and Chris finally catch up on some anthology shows from April.

The reboot of the Twilight Zone on CBS All-Access, unfortunately it's pilots is no longer available for free on youtube, but you can catch a free trial for CBS All-Access basically anywhere. And what "pilot" did Steve and Chris get for Love Death and Robots? And does it tell you anything about our hosts?

All this plus Anthology 30 second pitches, and crossovers!

Chris and Steve got a screener for Ramy, so why not pair it with Abby's featuring their favorite: Natalie Morales, no the one from Middleman!

Abby's is a unique show with a fascinating pedigree, can it live as a mid season replacement to get to season 2?

Ramy is a genuine delight and surprise, another single camera show in the vein of Louie and Master of None

All this, plus 30 second pitches and Crossovers!

Steve and Chris are joined this week by Donna Letterese (@drawdvl) expert on all things Pretty Little Liars (and teen drama as we learn). To discuss the PLL spinoff: the Perfectionists!

Steve is so excited about this episode that he'll barely even let me finish writing this descrip...

We dive deep, Chris finally finds someone to discuss Dawson's desktop with, and as always, 30 second pitches and crossovers.

We hope you enjoyed the premiere of What we do in the Shadows as much as we did, when we got to see it a week early! Special thanks to The Upright Citizens Brigade theater in Hollywood and Uproxx, Chris and steve got to see a special preview of the pilot for this new mockumentary TV Show.

Produced by Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi It's a television adaptation of their cult hit 2015 film of the same name.

How good is it? Does it lose anything in translation? How long did Chris think this was going to be a drama? Are there Twilight jokes?

All this, plus crossovers and 30 second pitches on this week's Episode One Podcast!

In this very special Episode One Podcast, Chris and Steve go through their handpicked top 32 shows from the Episode One Podcast and pick a winner, bracket style!

A very special guest this week. Mentioned on almost every episode of the pod, but never seen. Chris's wife Becca!

She Joins chris and Steve to discuss The Act, a new original true crime series from HULU. Featuring a fantastic cast (Chloe Sevigny, Patricia Arquette, AnnaSophia Robb and Joey King). This one gets creepy! but is very well acted.

So does this show surprise? what compelled Becca to come on the pod to discuss it? And what do you crossover a true crime series with?

All this and more on this week's Episode One Podcast.

Chris and Steve are back! But we didn't really go anywhere, we were just busy!

To make it up to you we've got a 2 in 1. We take a look at the new (ish) Hulu Show PEN15, come relive your Junior High days with us. And another comic book adaptation (our specialty) The Umbrella Academy. But it's more than just a comic adaptation, it mixes alt-rock, comics and Ellen Page!

All this and crossovers, 30 second pitches and our next shows previewed. On this Episode One Podcast!

When a Superbowl ad announces that a new Tv show pilot is available for only 24 hours you know that the episode one podcast will be there.

We'll take a second look in March when the show officially premieres, but we do a quick check in on the pilot for Hanna, then get into the 77th episode business. Recaps of what we've watched since the 66th, including the fall premieres we kept watching or quit.

Also Chris Loves the Masked Singer and tries to talk Steve into it.

We whole heartedly welcome the age of the Groundhog day as a TV show trope. Russian Doll was a lot of fun and we want more dammit! Feauring Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Orange Is The New Black) and co created by Amy Poehler. Steve and Chris take a look ( a week or two late) at the newest Netflix sensation!

Also we pitch our own Groundhog day based shows, and crossovers!

A first for the episode one podcast, a show Chris and Steve saw taped! Yes, it's time for our 3rd wrestling show, 4th if you count GLOW. And speaking of GLOW it's Women of Wrestling! Founded in 2000 by the same guy who founded GLOw it's women's wrestling empowered!

And with our guest Emily Praat (@emilyofpratt) we dive deep and discuss the new WOW on AXS TV and dig into the original TV premiere back in 2000. What's different, what's the same, how it's improved. A lot of what works and what doesn't.

Plus Emily makes her pitch for Elon Musk to invest in a new wrestling sensation right up his alley!

All this plus crossover son the Episode One Podcast!
