  • EnterpriseSplaining 38: The E-Team!

We’re watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 6 “Marauders,” but only Bill has actually watched the episode.

In 2001, an unprepared crew was sent to deep space by Starfleet on a mission they were not prepared for. These men (and nearly a third women) promptly escaped orbit. Today, still wanted by multiple alien governments, they survive based on the value of the franchise name. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you’re willing to endure war crimes….maybe you can hire the E-Team!

    Rikermendations:
    • Jamie: Two Point Campus
    • Maria: Gravity Falls and Ludwig
    • Bill: Battle Beyond the Stars
    • Sound assistance by K.O. Myers at Particulate Media

    • The 2025 Dragon Con Report Episode 5
In this episode of The Dragon Con Report, we suit up for a thrilling conversation with Laurence Lagnese, event coordinator for the Palmetto Knights!

Laurence shares insights into the world of armored combat and the rich pageantry of medieval mayhem that the Palmetto Knights bring to Dragon Con each year. We delve into the history and intensity of live steel combat, what it takes to compete in the Dragon’s Cup, and why the Knight Fights have become a fan-favorite spectacle at the convention.

The Palmetto Knights is a nonprofit international sports team based out of South Carolina with various clubs in the southeast. This medieval fight team, which includes both men and women, focuses on the research and training to recreate the ancient art of Medieval and Renaissance foot combat. The highlight of the con is the Dragon’s Cup Tournament. Participants include other reenactment organizations, who also fight and compete across the USA and internationally. They will bring their real-world insight into the equipment so they can truly discuss and educate on how effective they were on the battlefield. Each year, we present an entertainment unlike no other as we draw from history to conduct an unchoreographed combat experience leveraging our expertise in battle effectiveness of tactics and weaponry.

    • The 42cast Episode 238: Harry Situations

Resident Alien is a clever series that combines hilarious, off-beat comedy with an interesting science-fiction narrative. In this episode we delve into the series. We talk about the amazing cast that they’ve built up, and what we think about the characters and their situations. We discuss the plot lines and what we feel has worked and what hasn’t. We also get into the tone and why this series feels different from everything else that’s come before.

This week’s five-minute controversy asks if we agree that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 should have been canned.

This week Ryan, Nate, and Kelley join the cast.

    • Flopcast 682: Well, We’re Living Here in ’82

Flopcast episode 682! It’s another 80s-themed episode, and we’re up to 1982. And to keep this one short and silly, we’re just looking at the albums we bought from that year. It’s a mix of goofy mainstream pop (Hall & Oates, Air Supply, REO Speedwagon), some slightly cooler stuff (Elvis Costello, Devo, Midnight Oil), and one very special record from Buckner and Garcia. Because this was the year we had Pac-Man Fever, and we did the Donkey Kong. And some of us never fully recovered.
