In this episode of Earth Station Who, we delve into the surreal and satirical world of “Wish World”, the penultimate episode of Doctor Who Season 15. The Doctor and Belinda awaken in an idyllic suburban life, only to discover they’re trapped in a fabricated reality crafted by the Rani, Conrad, and a mysterious wish-granting entity. As the illusion unravels, the Doctor confronts unsettling truths and faces the return of the formidable Time Lord, Omega.
Joining us is author MacKenzie Flohr, who offers her insights on the episode’s themes and bravely takes on the Whovian Geek Seat. We discuss the episode’s commentary on societal norms, its connections to classic Doctor Who lore, and what it sets up for the upcoming season finale, “The Reality War”.

In this episode we talk about the most popular actor to play the Doctor with Tom Baker. We discuss his legacy and why he does rank so high in people’s estimation. We examine the controversies of his era such as whether there was too much violence and how he treated his costars. We also take a firm focus at the three different producers that he worked under and what effect they and their affiliated script editors had on the series and Baker’s performance. We end with our normal lists of favorite companions and favorite stories.
Due to time constraints there is no five-minute controversy this week.
This week Eric, Anthony, and Miranda join the cast.
Show Notes:

In this episode, we slice deep into The Slasher Era—from its gruesome birth in the late ’70s to its bloody reign through the ’80s, and why it’s legacy still haunts pop culture today. We break down the rise and fall of the slasher sub-genre, the evolution of legendary villains like Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers, and what makes the “Final Girl” trope such a lasting symbol of survival and empowerment. Plus, we share our favorite kills, chat about the most faved movie, and debate which slasher film we’d actually want to survive. Sharpen your blades—this one’s a killer.

Mind Your Beeswax is a fun title for a podcast episode!
Bee keeping, farming, movies and Etsy sales on this, the 26th episode of the Have Coffee Will Travel Podcast.
We start off with a movie review. It has been some time since we dedicated an entire episode to a movie review. This review is quick. Shawn and Leah watched Long Legs, starring Nicolas Cage. Reviews said it was the best serial killer movie since the Silence of the Lambs. Far be it from us to disagree with the critics, but the movie kinda sucked. Nicolas Cage gave a great performance, but the story was mediocre, and the logic was not logiccing.
Next up, is the farm auction we went to. Shawn’s dad sent out an invite to check out a rural farm auction. After about an hour of driving we made it to our destination. If you’re into farming, this was the place for you. Most of the bidders were local Mennonites. Not being overly familiar with this group, the day was a treat. Interacting with a new culture is always a great thing. Trying to play with the horses and cows was another highlight.
Leah did something different this past weekend. She took an introductory to bee keeping class. Learning about maintaining a hive was the major focus. However, Leah also learned about tools and equipment, what to wear and a whole lot more. It is possible she will start up her own bee hive some day. For now, she needs to focus on education before she takes on such a commitment. Mind your beeswax indeed!
ETSY Shop round-up! We discuss some new additions to our stores. We also talk about some recent sales.
