After a long hiatus due to the writer’s strike, the MCU returned last February with Captain America: Brave New World. While many fans of Falcon and the Winter Soldier had high hopes for this movie, there were concerns about the use of characters from 2008’s Incredible Hulk, the minimal involvement of Bucky Barnes, and the reshoots that resulted in inserting a completely new main character in the form of Sidewinder. In this episode we take a look at the movie as a whole. We analyze the plot and the performances. We debate its impact on the MCU and what forces we believe shaped the story. We also discuss some of the thematic elements and whether or not we feel that they worked in the movie.
Due to time constraints there is no five-minute controversy this week.
This week Alli, Tom, Kori, and Gerald join the cast.

Join our Haunted Hosts—Lysa, Karen, and Shannon—as they unravel the chilling mysteries of Bridgewater, the hit supernatural audio drama from Grim & Mild Entertainment. Created by Lauren Shippen and Aaron Mahnke, and starring Misha Collins, Melissa Ponzio, and Karan Soni, Bridgewater blends real paranormal folklore with gripping fiction, bringing the infamous Bridgewater Triangle to life.
In this episode, we dive deep into the haunting legends that inspired the show and explore how its eerie entities—ghosts, cryptids, and beyond—compare to other horror media rooted in true myths. We break down Jeremy Bradshaw’s transformation from skeptic to believer, the emotional weight of his father’s disappearance, and the way the missing persons trope fuels the horror. Plus, we examine the masterful sound design that immerses listeners in dread, dissect the cast’s performances, and ask: did the season finale leave us satisfied, or screaming for more?
Tune in as we rate, analyze, and speculate on what’s next for this chilling series. Let’s get spooky!

The My Little Pony franchise has been around for a long time and has spawned many animated series. In this episode we discuss the Friendship is Magic installment, which lasted from 2010 to 2019. As arguably the most successful incarnation of My Little Pony we examine why that might be. We discuss the characters and why they create interesting hooks for the audience. We talk about the mythology of the series how that interweaves with themes of conflict resolution, mental health, and social situations. We also get into the brony phenomenon, masculine expectations, and why this incarnation of a traditionally girl-focused series may also appeal to boys. Along the way we get into Star Trek crossovers, ponies-as-humans, and “hot” cartoons.
This week’s five-minute controversy asks if it was a good idea to release Wonder Woman 1984 straight to streaming.
This week Beth along with newcomers, Chris and Tina, join the cast.

Flopcast episode 679! It’s the 13th anniversary of the Flopcast! We started this nonsense way back in 2012 (as court-ordered community service, but let’s not get into that), and here we are today, as dizzy and confused as ever. And to celebrate, we’re doing… not much of anything. Kevin and the Mayor just wander through a few quick little subjects, including: Running a half marathon in Maine; running a 5K in the rain; a visit to the Watch City Steampunk Festival, ruled by our friend Queen Jessica Mercy; the return of our favorite metal band, Anaria; an important ornithological discovery right here at the studio; the Columbo-style antics of Natasha Lyonne on Poker Face; and a pile of new “facsimile” comic books, which allow us to enjoy the first Aquaman story without spending eight zillion dollars. Now it’s on to yet another year of Flopcasting. We promise to continue accomplishing nothing.
