Cosmic Pizza Podcast brings you Episode 98: 42 years old! What was the question?
Today (as we recorded) it was Dan’s 42nd birthday. So we thought that we should, in Dan’s words, “get some booze and talk birthday memories”. Paul has more than the others, but can he remember them. Are Canadian birthdays any better or worse than UK birthdays. Will Kacey have enough birthdays to remember? Join the Pizza Gang to find out.

Mark Maddox joins Jim for a discussion of two Gene Roddenberry TV Movie pilots from the early 1970s – “Genesis II” and “Planet Earth,” starring Alex Cord, Mariette Hartley, Majel Barrett, Ted Cassidy, Percy Rodriguez, John Saxon, Diana Muldaur, and Christopher Cary. Both stories deal with a researcher (Cord, Saxon) who is trapped during a deep space hibernation experiment and found 150 years later after the Earth has suffered a nuclear war. Roddenberry hoped the pilots would become a nice follow-up to Star Trek. Find out more on this episode of MONSTER ATTACK!, The Podcast Dedicated To Old Monster Movies.

Our June episode is Part 2 of a Podcasting Crossover Spectacular! Part one took place over on “The Flopcast” Episode #686, hosted by Kevin Eldridge, where I was his guest and we extensively discussed ‘Movie Title Songs’. Part 2 is right here in Episode #5 where Kevin is my guest, and we discuss an even more specific niche topic: Songs specifically created to promote Dan Aykroyd movies. There’s more of them than you think. I also finally get around to reading listener COMMENTS from Episodes 1, 2, & 3, and talk about miscellaneous animated TV shows and movies that have come out over the past year, and ask you which of those you’d like me to discuss further in a future episode.
Featured Comedy Songs:
“Greg Brady Wants Me Dead” – Sponge Awareness Foundation
“City Of Crime” – Dan Aykroyd & Tom Hanks
“Ghostbusters” – Insane Ian, featuring Devo Spice & the great Luke Ski
“Chicken!” – the great Luke Ski

My Adventures with Superman is an animated take on the man of Steel that airs on the Cartoon Network and HBO Max. The series provides a slightly different take on Superman, following his adventures as a young intern at the Daily Planet and featuring an anime inspired style. In this episode we review about both seasons of the series. We talk about the characters and how the different lens of the series reimagines characters who are typically part of Superman’s supporting cast and ones who aren’t. We discuss the art style and what we like and don’t like about the anime-inspired take. We also get into performances and what we want to see from the series in season three.
This week’s five-minute controversy asks if we agree with Matt Smith that we should remove trigger warnings from media.
This week Beth, Tom, and Nate join the cast.
Show Notes:
Matt Smith says that we shouldn’t have trigger warnings on content.

Flopcast episode 686! Returning to the Flopcast after a full decade away, it’s our old pal (and comedy musician, podcaster, animator, storyboard artist, and voice actor) the great Luke Ski! Luke came up with the subject for this week’s Top 4 1/2 List, and it’s a long one: The Top 4 1/2 Songs Made For A Movie Where The Title Of The Song Is Also The Title Of The Movie And The Lyrics Of The Chorus Of The Song! Got that? And since this is our 1986 episode, all of Kevin’s movies and songs are from 1986. Luke’s choices are also mostly from the mid-80s, which seemed to be the peak of this very important cinematic trend that no one else has ever noticed. It’s a wild list which just might involve aliens, nerds, and a certain duck. Enjoy! And watch for episode 5 of the new Luke Ski’s Animation & Stuff Podcast, also out this week! Kevin is Luke’s guest over there, and we do another Top 4 1/2 List that’s even weirder than this one.
