The Sharks have suffered a damaging 24–20 loss to the Canberra Raiders at Shark Park, making it back-to-back defeats and putting their top-four hopes in serious jeopardy.

With Boldo otherwise occupied at his niece’s 21st dressed as Super Mario, Franko takes the reins solo — with plenty of help from the ET Stand community in the comments.

There’s no shortage of talking points after a frustrating afternoon.

The biggest is the injury to Braydon Trindall, who left the game in just the sixth minute with a dislocated shoulder. Franko looks at what Trindall’s possible absence means for the run into the finals, the options Cronulla has in the halves, and the increased pressure that now falls on Nicho Hynes to take control of the team.

The attack also comes under the microscope after Cronulla repeatedly found themselves in good field position but struggled to turn that dominance into points. Was the loss of Trindall enough to explain how disjointed the Sharks looked, or are there bigger structural issues appearing at the worst possible time?

Franko and the listeners also get into:

The Cronulla Sharks made it four wins in a row with a 32–16 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs, overcoming injuries, a controversial sin bin and a disrupted backline to collect another important two competition points.

Boldo and Franko break down a performance that was more resilient than the final scoreline might suggest, with the Sharks playing the entire second half with only two available players on the bench after injuries to KL Iro and Siosifa Talakai.

The boys discuss Teig Wilton’s controversial sin bin for a head clash, the forward passes that appeared to be missed, and the way Cronulla continued to control the match despite spending time with 12 players.

There is plenty of praise for Addin Fonua-Blake, whose introduction helped change the momentum through the middle, along with Nicho Hynes and Braydon Trindall’s control of the game, Blayke Brailey’s kicking and a powerful Sharks interchange bench.

Nicho also kicked a perfect six from six, extending his incredible streak to 32 consecutive successful kicks and moving within four kicks of breaking the NRL record.

The Sharks have won four straight and are charging towards the finals, but is it time to start planning for October or should supporters keep their expectations under control?

Chris Kelly returns alongside Franko, Francis Crossle and Boldo to assess Cronulla’s red-hot form, where the Sharks sit among the genuine premiership contenders and whether recent dominant wins have answered the questions surrounding this team.

The panel discusses the challenge posed by the leading sides, the importance of finishing inside the top four and why Cronulla’s performances in September will ultimately determine how this season is judged.

The Bally M Player of the Year leaderboard is updated following the Manly victory, with Braydon Trindall still leading Nicho Hynes and Will Kennedy at the top of the standings.
