What an amazing 4 days of celebration, acknowledgement, recognition and collaboration – the concert, surprizes, entertainment, technical proficiency and all-around success. The concert was an example of incredible organization, timing and collaboration – Britain at its Best!

However, flights cancelled, queues, delays and a lack of effective planning and forecast capability in the aviation industry was a clear contrast. Our industry needs to focus on the summer to avoid unnecessary bad press. Solutions need to be effective and not superficial – Leadership of a new model is urgently required.

Perfect storm - • Lack of specialist skills • Lack of employee numbers • Lack of equipment • Lack of services - China/Covid, Ukraine Impact, Inflation, drop in demand, drop in production Yet - should be the perfect time for recovery and confidence Some challenging times ahead Crisis Leadership is now a focus much in need -- how to navigate around the volume of disruptive events. • Bonuses • Compressed working weeks • Incentives to join • Retention bonus etc. Is this the way forward? Question - 'Why is all of the above not linked to service levels, added-value services, quality, satisfaction etc. Being busy is not necessarily best! How do we change and what should be changed first before the cascade effect is expected over the next 9-18 months..

Present and Vice-President of ULD-Care, Urs Wiesendanger and Bob Rogers discuss the nightmare compromising logistics in the freight equipment world, where a shortage of pallets (PMCs) means 640 aircraft worth of cargo is wasted at any one time. New Russian sanctions on one of the three manufacturers for PMC in the world, added to terrible efficiency in the industry = the problem is beginning to snowball. Bob and Urs advocate for an industry level approach to start treating ULD assets as an essential component.
