Welcome to The Expanse Podcast Double Take. This is where I give you my first impressions right after seeing the season 1 two hour finale which includes the episodes titled “Critical Mass” & “Leviathan Wakes” for the first time. I’m creating these short posts to encourage listener feedback by asking questions about the episode.

This week’s question are…

1) Did Season 1 meet your expectation?

2) What would you like to see in Season 2?

3) Has the series urged you to read (or re-read) the books?

Bonus: What happened to Diogo?

Welcome everyone. Can you believe this is the penultimate episode of Season 1 of the Expanse. I know that’s not technically true since the two hour finale consists of two episodes. So maybe I would be more accurate saying this was the penultimate week of The Expanse.

This was another great episode. We got the excitement on the Anubis and finally the meeting between Miller and the Rocinante crew.

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, I talk about the various storylines of the episode.

On Earth we find out that the U.N. has sent a battleship to Thycho Station to catch Fred Johnson in the act of manufacturing stealth technology. Avasarala pleads with Errinwright to cancel the black opps team sent to eliminate Holden but he wont hear of it.

On Tycho Station, Fred has his tech decode the MCRN chip from Lopez which gives him valuable insight into who is behind the stealth ships attacks.

At asteroid BA-834024112 the crew of the Roci find a stealth ship hidden in a crevasse. They board it only to find no sign of the crew. They do discover a mysterious blackish substance feeding off the reactor core. They decide to leave and destroy the ship in their wake.

On Eros station, Miller gets a lead but ends up in jail. His old friend Inspector Sematimba gets him out and tells him where he can find Julie.

Kenzo guides the Rocinante crew through Eros to the Blue Falcon, the last known location of Lionel Polanski. In the lobby, they are attacked by the U.N. Black Opps team but are saved my Miller. Together, they break into the room registered to Polanski and find Julie Mao, dead in the shower with a blackish substance, similar to what was on the Anubis covering her body.

This week’s question are…

1) What is Fred Johnson hoping to find in Lopez’s files?

2) What did Miller mean when he said “I believe in her”?

3) What do you think Miller’s reaction will be to finding Julie that way?

Welcome everyone. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined me today to discuss The Expanse.

This was another great plot building episode. That was a tight call for the crew of the Rocinante there. And did we just see where Jim Holden get’s all his charm?

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, I talk about the three storylines of the episode. Earth, Ceres Station, and the Rocinante.

A visit to the Holden farm by Christen Avasarala reveals some background about James Holden and why he was so far out in the belt hauling ice. I get the feeling that Avasarala is beginning to understand the man responsible for their brush with war and I think she’s growing soft on him.

On Ceres station, Miller is mourning his lost career. After doing some soul searching he decides that the Julie Mao case is all he has left and decides to pursue his leads on Eros. I’m really looking forward to see what happens there.

And one the Rocinante, the crew discover a stowaway on board and don’t know what to do with him. Things get worse when a Mars military ship wants to inspect them. I wonder what would have happened if that spy wasn’t found because it’s his plan that saves the day.

After recapping and discussing these points from the episode I finish off with some great feedback contributions from listeners.
