I want to hear from you! Send me your feedback at 1-805-910-7656 or [email protected]

Welcome everyone. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined me today to discuss The Expanse.

This was another great world building episode. I feel bad for Miller. He was just doing his job and looks where it’s got him.

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, I talk about the four locations of the episode. Earth, Ceres Station, Tycho Station and the Rocinante as well as the abandoned asteroid mine.

We get a little bit of Earth in this episode with Christen Avasarala acquiring a Tycho Station spy from her old acquaintance Carlos. Not entirely convinced that the OPA is not responsible for the mysterious attacks, she wants to know what Fred Johnson is up to and she’s willing to blackmail an old friend to get the information.

At an Abandoned Asteroid Mine in the Martian Trade Zone, we see Diogo, the water thief from Ceres Station working with his uncle Matao to bring back asteroid fragments for profit. A MCRN ship arrives to inspect them and gives Matao a hard time. At wit’s end, he ejects his nephew Diogo into space in an environment suit and then retaliates against the Martians, hurtling his cargo at their ship and getting destroyed himself in the process. Leaving Diogo all alone in space.

On Tycho Station, there are several standoffs between Fred Johnson and Holden as they weight each other up. An uneasy peace is formed and the crew of the Rocinante are offered safe haven in exchange for testifying in front of the U.N. Security Council on what they saw. Fred admits that he wants to use them to gain a seat for the OPA at the table. Meanwhile, the Rocinante is retrofitted to change her appearance and make her look like a gas hauler. Fred wants to use her for a special mission but Holden and the others refuse. Instead they agree to help hime look for the last survivor of the Scopuli, the only person left alive that may know what started the whole mess.

On Ceres Station, Miller confronts his captor who turns out to be none other than Anderson Daws. Daws grills Miller for everything he knows about Julie Mao and the Scopuli. He realizes that Miller is actually in love with the missing woman and decides he’s had enough of him. He sentences Miller to death but Octavia intervenes and saves him. Miller takes what he know to Captain Shaddid thinking she’ll be able to help him, but it turns out she’s working with the OPA. She confiscates Millers’ evidence and fires him from Star Helix.

After recapping and discussing these points from the episode I finish off with some great feedback contributions from listeners.

Welcome to The Expanse Podcast Double Take. This is where I give you my first impressions right after seeing the 6th episode of season 1 titled “Rock Bottom” for the first time. This episode was also called “Retrofit” in some places. I’m creating these short posts to encourage listener feedback by asking questions about the episode.

I’m so excited that the Rocinante is FINALLY part of the story, and that my podcast now has it’s namesake.

    This week’s question are…

    1) What was the point of the whole Uncle/Nephew storyline?

    2) What are Miller’s options now that he’s been fired?

    3) Who do you think Naomi is looking for?

I’d like to thank everyone who has subscribed to this podcast and encourage you to join the discussion by sending in your feedback by calling +1-805-910-7656 or by e-mailing me at [email protected] or visiting the website at solotalkmedia.com. Welcome everyone. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined me today to discuss The Expanse.

What a great plot moving episode. Miller seems to be getting somewhere with his investigation.

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, I talk about the three locations of the episode. Ceres Station, The MCRN Tachi/Rocinante as well as the flashback of Anderson Station.

We don’t get any Earth story this week which I title sad about but the Anderson Station flashback more than mead up for it. We learn the plight of Marama Brown and his people. How they’re being branded terrorists by the U.N. for standing up for their rights as human beings. The unfortunate events that transpire haunt Fred Johnston to this day and the monicker “Butcher of Anderson Station” will forever be attached to his name.

On Ceres, Havelock is alive and will recover. Although he doesn’t say it, I think Miller blames himself for what happened to his partner. Leaving him in the hospital, Miller continues his investigation into Julie Mao. He discovered a connection between her, Anderson Daws and the events surrounding the destruction of the Canterbury. Others take notice of his progress and at the end of the episode Miller is kidnapped.

On the MCRN Tachi the crew are trying to decide what to do when they receive a message from Fred Johnson offering them safe haven at Tycho Station. They are torn about the offer. Holden and Alex want to go but Naomi is against it and Amos followers her lead. They know Fred Johnson’s reputation. However, with no other options available, Naomi finally agrees and they make preparations to go to Tycho. They can’t approach the station in a stolen Mars gunship so Fred gives them instructions on how to change the transponder of the ship. Doing so requires them to rename the ship and they settle on the name Rocinante.

I finish off with some great feedback contributions from listeners.

Welcome everyone. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined me today to discuss The Expanse.

What an exciting action packed episode. It seems like the Canterbury’s survivors really know how to get themselves into the thick of it.

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, including the season 2 renewal announcement, I talk about the four locations of the episode. Ceres Station, Earth and Tycho Station and the MCRN Flagship Donnager.

We don’t get a whole lot at Ceres Station this week, Miller investigates the dead body he found. The I.D. comes up as Bizi Betiko but we soon learned that it’s an assumed name and that’s pretty well it. Other than the fact that Havelock is till alive, but we’ll have to wait until next episode for his status.

On Earth we get even less this week, Avasarala has a short conversation with Admiral Souther about the battle taking place with the Donnager. And then we get a small scene with her on her roof and a one sided conversation by her grandson.

We are introduced to a new location this week. Tycho Station and the man in charge there, Fred Johnson. We learn that Tycho is building the L.D.S.S. Nauvoo, a Mormon generation ship. Because of his ties to the OPA, Fred is asked to step down as project leader but through a bit of blackmail and treats he manages to retain his job. There’s more to Fred we don’t know, as he orders the Nauvoo’s vast sensor array pointed towards the Donnager and demands a full report of what’s going on.

And now on the MCRN Donnager, Holden refuses to convict Naomi for a crime he knows she didn’t commit. The mysterious ship that the Martians think is coming for Naomi splits into 6 vessels and attacks without warning. The Donnager, the most powerful ship in the Mars NAVY is out gunned and is boarded.

The Donnager’s captain orders Officer Lopez to get Holden to MCRN Command because he’s the only one who can corroborate that Mars was not responsible for the destruction of the Canterbury. Holden refuses to leave without his crew mates and manages to get away to find them, only to discover that Shed is dead. The survivors, along with Lopez manage to work their way to the Tachi, a smaller ship and escape the attack. Right before the Donnager captan scuttles the ship.

Wow, again, what a great episode.

I finish off with some great feedback contributions from listeners.
