"We're in the middle of a genocide, Fascism is on the rise, and now this?" I was thinking (despairing, really) yesterday as messages about Noam Chomsky passing away were coming in.

Thankfully, those messages were false.

But my reflections aren't.

That's what I'm sharing with you today. So we don't fall into that despair together. Not yet.

If it hasn't been clear from Israel's killing of children at historic rates, using starvation as a weapon of war, and its history of murdering children with impunity -- it's even more official now.

The UN has announced that this month it is adding Israel to its blacklist of parties who commit grave violations affecting children in situations of armed conflict.

In my episode, I describe the report on which that list appears, what it's comprised of, how Israel was assessed on that same report last year, and what this new development could mean.

I don't think there are any debates left: Israel's brutality is completely in the open, as shown by its recent destruction of the Al Shifa Hospital and all executions that took place there, as well as its targetting and killing of the World Central Kitchen aid convoy.

The disregard for International Humanitarian Law here is two-fold at least: in Israel's conduct and in what its defenders still claim (or have never claimed in the first place).

This is what my episode is about.

To support an ideology or an ethno-national project means to support it all and not just an idea of it.

It means to support what it actually looks like on the ground for the people for whom it's not an idea but a lived experience.

It can't be clearer by now how much violence, killings, destruction, and different (decades-long) forms of oppression people who identify themselves as Zionist have to support and justify these days as Israel is starving and bombing the people of Gaza.

There is so much to cover when we talk about an event that the Palestinians have been waiting for over 75 years: the fact that South Africa filed a case against Israel and the mass atrocities it continues to commit in Gaza. For the first time ever, Israel had to defend its crimes in court.

If the court rules that there is a base to investigate this further or not, this case has already shown us a lot. A lot of bravery, hope, but also hypocrisy and colonial violence (and not only in Palestine).

My episode is about those learnings.

Although this podcast episode is still on Palestine - because it's still very needed - its format is a bit different today.

Why? That is because I was kindly invited for a conversation with CFRO, Vancouver Co-operative Radio, about what's happening in Gaza and how I have been approaching it in and through my own work.
