Massive Long Beach Sewage Spill Grows to 2.5 Million Gallons. Who is going to PAY for all of this?!?

A pipeline burst in downtown Los Angeles Monday, releasing an estimated 2.45 million gallons of raw sewage into the Los Angeles River, which flowed into Long Beach Harbor late Monday and into Tuesday, prompting several beach closures along the coastline, according to Long Beach Health officials. Long Beach has about seven miles of public beaches, visited by some 50,000 people during the summer months.

President Obama Makes Statement on the Attack on Police in Baton Rouge, LA.

Earlier today, President Obama made the following statement on the attack on law enforcement in Baton Rouge, LA:

"I condemn, in the strongest sense of the word, the attack on law enforcement in Baton Rouge. For the second time in two weeks, police officers who put their lives on the line for ours every day were doing their job when they were killed in a cowardly and reprehensible assault. These are attacks on public servants, on the rule of law, and on civilized society, and they have to stop.

"I’ve offered my full support, and the full support of the federal government, to Governor Edwards, Mayor Holden, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Baton Rouge Police Department. And make no mistake – justice will be done.

"We may not yet know the motives for this attack, but I want to be clear: there is no justification for violence against law enforcement. None. These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one. They right no wrongs. They advance no causes. The officers in Baton Rouge; the officers in Dallas – they were our fellow Americans, part of our community, part of our country, with people who loved and needed them, and who need us now – all of us – to be at our best.

"Today, on the Lord’s day, all of us stand united in prayer with the people of Baton Rouge, with the police officers who’ve been wounded, and with the grieving families of the fallen. May God bless them all."

A "terrorist" gunman killed 80 people and wounded scores when he drove a heavy truck at high speed into a crowd that had watched Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice late on Thursday, officials said.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said 80 people died and 18 were in a critical condition. Many more were also wounded in the attack along the famed seafront Promenade des Anglais as the fireworks ended just after 10:30 p.m.

Christy Sheats called a family meeting with her husband and two daughters on Friday in the living room of their Fulshear, Texas home.

Jason Sheats thought his wife was going to tell Taylor, 22, and Madison, 17, that their parents were getting a divorce.

Instead, she pulled out a gun and fatally shot her daughters, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy E. Nehls said in a news conference Wednesday. Minutes later a Fulshear police officer shot the mother outside the home when she refused to put down her weapon.
