Two Fathers. Two Natures. Creation vs. Sonship.
Here’s a truth Scripture is very clear about, even if culture isn’t:
Everyone is created by God, but not everyone is a child (son) of God.
Creation establishes origin.
Sonship establishes relationship, nature, and inheritance.
Yes, God is Creator of all; Genesis 1:27; Acts 17:28. That gives every human value. But value is not the same as access. One Creator does not mean one covenant, Malachi 2:10.
Sonship is not automatic.
We are not “born children of God” spiritually, we are born again into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ; John 1:12–13; Galatians 3:26. Adoption replaces bondage (Romans 8:15).
And “son” here is not gender, it means mature offspring and inheritance.
Jesus Himself draws the contrast plainly:
“If God were your Father, you would love Me… You are of your father the devil.” -John 8:42–44
Spiritual fatherhood is revealed by allegiance and obedience, not labels, lineage, or religious language- Matthew 12:50; John 14:6.
Scripture identifies two families:
• Children of God
• Children of the devil
1 John 3:8–10; Matthew 13:37–38
There is NO neutral ground spiritually. Fruit doesn’t make the tree, it reveals the root.
A slave works for approval.
A son works from acceptance.
A slave doesn’t remain in the house forever, but a son abides; John 8:34–36; Galatians 4:1–7.
The good news?
No one is stuck with their spiritual father.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” (Colossians 1:13)
He exposed it to invite us home. Accept Him.
“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved.” (John 10:9)
If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation - 2 Corinthians 5:17.
