Growing up as a 'Navy brat,' I (Tosha Williams) was constantly tossed about by the tides of change, learning that a solid anchor is vital to weather the storms of life. An anchor chain from my childhood is painted in my mind's eye as a reminder of what can ground us in our ever changing lives.
In the midst our own oceans of change, we can find an unshakeable anchor in the truths of God's Word. Hebrews encourages us, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (6:19). As I share my personal reflections about this and dive into Scripture, we uncover how devotion and discipleship serve as our steadfast guide and source of hope, no matter how fiercely the winds of change may blow.
This episode is the introduction to a series of conversations entitled, "OUR ANCHOR OF HOPE: What About God Always Stays the Same?" The deep, unshifting ocean floor of His character is where we want to toss our anchor, and we want to have a chain of faith that doesn't just extend to those depths but gains strength and stability from them.

You've turned the page of history in your life. BC has become AD because you gave your life to Jesus. That's amazing! It's the most important decision of your whole life and now you're beginning to walk with Him. So, now what? Let's take some first steps with this new conversation series called "My New Life in Christ."
In this series, we're going to look at various aspects of your new identity as a Christ follower. This journey starts by seeking the Lord and spending time in His Word. Let's springboard into that with this episode as we look at our first Scripture, which is 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!”
Today, as you begin this new walk in your new life in Christ, I (Tosha Williams) encourage you to begin this journey by talking to Him and seeking Him about what is new in your life. What's your new identity? Who are you now that you're a Christ follower? What is true about you today that wasn't true about you yesterday or last week or a month ago, or whenever it was that you gave your life to Jesus?
As you begin this new life in Christ, I want to encourage you to do something I call "Seek Him, Speak Him." In this, we look to Jesus for the what, why, and how of our faith. Let the conversation (on the FDM app) that goes along with this podcast episode guide you as you spend time with Jesus.

Ever found yourself pigeonholed by a personality quiz that just didn't get you? I'm Tosha Williams, and my own brush with this frustration led me to the comforting verses of Psalm 139. It was (and is!) so very good to know that God knows me! He knows YOU, too! This in mind, our new "This Is Me" conversation series kicks off with a look into the truths about our identity from Psalm 139.
Truth is, we are intimately known and never alone, wonderfully made, and forever in the thoughts of our Creator. I'll share a mnemonic poem that captures these four truths, setting the stage for the rich discussions to come.
As we wrap up our introductory journey in this episode, I'll lift our hearts in a prayer drawn from the end of Psalm 139, verses 17-18. It's a moment of blessing, a call for God to lead us towards His everlasting ways and an affirmation of our true identity in Him.

These days, seems our whole world is changing. Every structure in society is being shaken, and good leadership has fallen on hard times, too. What’s more, good godly leadership - leadership that isn’t shaken, leadership that doesn’t crumble when the world does, leadership that rises to the occasion no matter what the circumstances - well, that kind of leadership is becoming more and more rare.
The question is, what are we going to do about it? How do we become the good, great, godly leaders God has called us to be? Because here's the thing: each of us is called by God to impact our circle of influence. There's something so special about first steps. I (Tosha Williams) remember when each of my five children took their first steps. I remember how they tentatively stepped and then how they took a couple more steps and then how they began to actually walk and then eventually run. We had so much joy watching each of our little ones begin their journey. Yes, I love babies' first steps, but I also love watching first steps for people who have just placed their faith in Jesus Christ. If you are one of those people - if you have just recently given your life to Jesus and are ready to take your first steps with Him - would you give me the privilege of walking alongside you as you begin this journey?
In this conversation series we call "First Steps for New Believers," we're going to answer the question what do I do next to follow Jesus? This is an amazing journey and I would be so honored to walk alongside you as you take your first steps with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In this episode, we're going to talk about a first step that may actually surprise you. We're going to challenge you to do with a verse from the last book of the Bible: “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later” (Revelation 1:19 NIV).
We challenge you to chronicle your unique journey to faith, the moments that led you to say "yes" to Jesus. This is not just a trip down memory lane—it's about etching your spiritual milestones into the annals of your history, crafting a legacy that will inspire and guide you as you grow in your journey with the Lord.
We've designed the coordinating conversation guide (available in the Family Disciple Me app) to help you reflect on this. Spend some time in the discipleship conversation that goes along with it and then give yourself the space and the place to record your Jesus story so far. Be encouraged that your Jesus Story has only just begun; there's so much in store for you. But before you start running, take a few steps to remember and record how you got here.
