The Farmville Baptist Church Podcast

In a world filled with so many voices seeking our attention and so many distractions pulling us to and fro, we may sometimes miss what Jesus is calling us to do and who he is calling us to be. In this, we are no different than the earliest disciples, who struggled to fully grasp who Jesus was and what he was doing in the world. In this series, we'll walk with the disciples in Mark's Gospel as Jesus opens their eyes a bit more every step of the way. Maybe, like them, we'll see Jesus a bit more clearly when we reach journey's end.

In Pastor Adam's absence this week, Deacon Chair Ken Copeland brought a short sermon reflecting on faithful Christian living.  The choir offered a beautiful anthem, and the church highlighted local mission partners during the FBC Mission Offering emphasis.  If you would like to contribute to the local mission work of Farmville Baptist Church, you can do so by sending a check (132 N. Main St., Farmville, VA 23901) or online (Giving at Farmville Baptist Church) and choosing the FBC Mission Offering option.

Starting next week, we will add YouTube to our online worship options alongside Sunday Zoom worship and the weekly podcast. The Farmville Baptist YouTube channel can be found at www.youtube.com/@FarmvilleBaptistChurch.

As we enter the autumn at Farmville Baptist Church, we turn to the letter of James to consider how Jesus calls us to follow him in practical, realistic ways. Most of the time, those ways are nothing new - they are things we already know to do - but we might need some reminders of how to live as Jesus' followers here and now.

September is also the time of year when we support our mission partners here at Farmville Baptist Church. Each week, we will highlight a mission partner; this week, we are supporting the Southside Baptist Association. If you would like to contribute to the SBA through Farmville Baptist Church, you can do so by sending a check (132 N. Main St., Farmville, VA 23901) or online (Giving at Farmville Baptist Church) and choosing the FBC Mission Offering option.

We wrap up our study of the church in Acts as it carried the fire of God's Spirit in new directions!

We continue our look at how the early church carried the fire of God's Spirit and how we can learn to carry the fire today.

Controversy is part of life - but we can still walk through controversy together as we carry the fire of the Spirit!
