We are meant to be people of victory, not just people of coping, but yet much of the church is set up to simply help people cope, rather than to teach them how to be part of the Kingdom expanding. As you become enamoured with God, you begin to live in a place of perpetual hope, where you can simply keep moving inch by inch towards what He has for your life. By inch it's a cinch!

Proverbs says that we should guard our hearts, for out of it flow the very issues of the heart. The enemy wants to attack our hearts, but God has created something to protect our hearts: the breastplate of righteousness. As a soldier, if you didn't have your breastplate on, you could be slain by an archer a long distance away. Similarly, if we don't have our breastplate of righteousness on, the enemy can wound us from far away. Learn how Jesus can keep your breastplate on, and your heart will be guarded.

For many people, emotions dictate how we live our lives. We are swayed to and fro by our feelings, never quite being able to bring our mind and emotions into submission to the will of God. The things that God has said about us are more important than our feelings, and can help us to manage our emotions in such a way that our lives begin to reflect the truth of God. Take up the peace, joy, love and hope of Jesus by beginning to manage your emotions today.

When Jesus turned the water to wine, He asked the waiter to fill the jars up to the brim. Similarly, He intends to fill us up to the brim with His Spirit, and then to overflowing, so He can pour out of us into the world around us. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, situations around us change, because He overflows. You might've been filled before, but why not be filled with the Spirit again? If Paul was filled more than once, surely we should be too!

The Bible frequently speaks of eagles, and says believer's strength will be renewed like the eagles, but quite often we spend our time running with turkeys or living in the chicken coop. We are called to mount up like eagles, and if we aren't, we should have a look at our lives, because God has better plans!

After our need for survival, most decisions we make are based on our desire to be happy. Somewhat surprisingly, the Bible only mentions happiness around 30 times - Jesus never promises that we'll be happy. The good news is that the Bible speaks of joy some 300 times. Joy is deep, and unlike happiness, can't be taken away by the comings and goings of life. The Bible explains that we are wired to live joyfully, so dump your pursuit of happiness and begin to pursue joy!
