On today’s show, we discuss the extent to which FBI informants and agents were central in instigating the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Trevor Aaronson is a journalist and the author of The Terror Factory: Inside the FBI’s Manufactured War on Terrorism. He is also a contributing writer for The Intercept and the host of a podcast called Alphabet Boys – which reveals secret investigations of the FBI, DEA, ATF, and other agencies, and includes secret undercover recordings that the government never wanted the public to hear. Eric VanDussen is a Michigan-based journalist and videographer, and contributor to The Intercept. He’s covered the Governor Whitmer kidnapping plot and subsequent prosecutions closely for the last 3 years, including lawsuits under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to bring the details about the case and FBI operations into the public spotlight. 

They join us to discuss their latest investigations for The Intercept, “The FBI’s Double Informant” detailing how the FBI informant and operations at the heart of the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020.
