  • Ready or Not

It's time to play a little game... as we wind down this series looking at some of your favorite horror films of 2019, the last stop (for now) is the inventive and unique chase thriller, READY OR NOT. Featuring a fun premise and a star-making lead performance by Samara Weaving, this jaunty horror romp also has some interesting things on its mind about class disparity and the obsessive, erosive addiction of materialism. We have quite a bit of fun with the conversation and we hope you do too.

  • Midsommar

It's time to take a little break from all this dark, horrific, nightmarish stuff and take a vacation out to the Swedish countryside for a little focused relaxation with the commune celebrating their-- wait a second... I've got a bad feeling about this. This week, we're joined once again by literary correspondent Meridith Curran as we dive feet first off the cliff into a deep discussion of Ari Aster's sophomore feature, MIDSOMMAR. Despite the pastoral beauty of the Horgath commune, things are not entirely what they seem and this dance around the Maypole might not end well. Meanwhile, we really hope you enjoy the discussion.

  • Parasite

Fresh off its historic award for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, we discuss Bong Joon-Ho's PARASITE, the powerfully affecting and remarkably crafted story of class, social dynamics, ambition, and -- most of all -- pretending. We explore as much as we can of this complex and compelling film (and still only barely scratch the surface). The conversation itself was recorded before the groundbreaking awards at the Oscars, but we're sure to give the film as much RESPECT! as we can possibly shower upon it. We hope you've seen it (please do if you haven't) and we hope you enjoy our discussion about it.

  • The Haunting of Hill House (The Complete Conversation)

Sprawling over 10 weeks, covering details for every single episode, we unpacked our thoughts on Mike Flanagan's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE in small segments through our series #netflixandchills and #flannelgraphflanagan.

Now, here is the epic deep-dive in one mammoth four-hour conversation. Every episode. Every like, dislike, scare, and theme. Every single piece of confetti.

We'll be returning in February with our regularly scheduled content, but meanwhile, we invite you to hold the door as we revisit all of the laughs, the tears, the jumps, and the inspirations that we gathered from one of our favorite TV shows: THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE.

  • Star Wars (B-Sides)

There's plenty to discuss "besides" horror every once in a while. Hence, The Fear of God proudly presents: The B-Sides, an occasional, periodic, bonus conversation about things not necessarily horror but most definitely discussion-worthy.

In this inaugural installment, Nathan is joined by friend of the show and fellow Quarterly King regular, Ian Olsen, to discuss the STAR WARS franchise in all its glories and woes, with particular attention on the most recent installments. It's a fun-filled and hearty conversation we think you're going to love.

Welcome to the rest of conversation. Welcome to the B-Sides.

  • Stephen King's It, Chapter 2 (Quarterly King)

So, it's come to this. Time has passed, the year is now behind us, and we have once again assembled the Loser's Club (albeit missing some key members) for a discussion of IT CHAPTER TWO, the conclusion of the adaptation of the epic masterwork by Stephen King. We discuss our feelings about the film as a whole, key differences from the book, and what it means to reach a place where we're willing to no longer let our past define us. We hope you enjoy this discussion and we hope you have a very safe and Happy New Year!

  • The Shawshank Redemption

We close out our series of #differentseasons, ostensibly also saying goodbye to this year's continuing series of Stephen King material, #19, with arguably one of his most widely seen adaptations: THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. 25 years ago, this clunky-titled, period-piece-prison drama entered theaters to mediocre returns and only modest recognition. But thanks to continual word-of-mouth and a successful home video release, it rose to become the number 1 viewer-voted film on IMDB, and remains one of the most beloved films of all time.

We discuss this film's legacy, it's crucial message of hope -- which has more to do with Christmas than it may initially seem -- and how we all must face our own response to the mandate to "get busy livin'". It's a heartfelt close to the season this time around and we hope you enjoy it.
