Heads up FoGgers, it's time to kick off a mini-series of some of the most talked-about films of 2018 with Ari Aster's stunning debut feature, HEREDITARY. We both went into this film, having witnessed its horrors once already in the theater, with a bit of ambivalence. But the sheer power of the filmcraft at work not only elevated our mutual esteem for the film, but sparked a surprisingly profound examination of the fragile bonds of family and relationship which we all so shakily navigate. Don't lose your heads over this one, but we hope you enjoy it. *cluck*

This is a different, unique, and special episode. Recently, Reed and Nathan had the rare privilege to spend time with friends they'd previously only known through technology. Six guys gathered together in a California mountain cabin to retreat, recharge, and reflect on life and living it.
While there, they sat down for a thoughtful, raw, and honest conversation inspired by Stephen King's book, ON WRITING: A MEMOIR OF THE CRAFT. The conversation touches on highlights from the book, both biographical and philosophical, before prompting each of those present to consider their own journeys, what's in their respective toolboxes, and how to not come to this blank page of life lightly.
We hope and believe you'll find it fun, challenging, and perhaps a bit refreshing as well. Enjoy.

Fire up the delta, gas up the chainsaw, and load up the boomstick because the Fear of God this week is getting groovy, baby as we cover the final installments of the Starz original TV series, ASH VS EVIL DEAD. We've been checking in a few episodes at a time, but now we're at the home stretch as we cover the last six episodes of season 3 and unpack a surprisingly hopeful theme amidst all the blood, mayhem, and deadites. Tag along, will ya? I call shotgun...

It's time to roll in the hay, make some espresso, and -- of course -- put on the ritz! Because this week's #funnyordie is the iconic Mel Brooks classic: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN! It's a hearty helping of fun topped off with a surprising and challenging conversation about how we define -- and redefine -- who we are in light of our complicated histories.

Don't eat your mates, folks, we're paying a visit to some friendly neighborhood vampires for the 2014 film by Jermaine Clement and Taika Watiti, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. After discussing the latest installments in our #tvguideposts looking at Ash vs Evil Dead, we spend a lot of time laughing over top of each other's notes about this hysterically brilliant mockumentary. What surprised us, however, was what these seemingly disconnected bits of hilarity might have to say about the pursuit of status and recognition. Join us will you? Won't you come in...?

Put that thing back where it came from or so help me... so HELP me!
It's #funnyordie. It's monsters. It's laughs. It's us, y'all. We're discussing Pixar's own Monsters Inc. this week with a special guest (an Ash vs. Evil Dead expert, in fact) joining the conversation and a special little surprise at the very end. What you can expect is laughter, fun, and plenty of good conversation. What you might not expect is to uncover just how much richness Pixar's beloved little gem has to say about the compulsion to instill fear versus the power of inciting joy.
It's a great discussion this week and y'all don't want to miss it!

It's time to head down to the Winchester, grab a pint, and wait for this installment of #funnyordie to blow over as we explore Edgar Wright's outstanding comedy-horror classic, Shaun of the Dead.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it has finally happened. After years of daydreaming and podcast about that high-minded intersection of faith and fear, Reed has finally fulfilled his dream of making the show officially Scared Stupid. Ernest Scared Stupid, that is.
That's right, friends and neighbors, this week, the podcast is taking the high ground; we are chucking the Miak at the trolls; we are at full-blown 8th-level Mario Bros as we discuss the absurd and outrageous (but subversively charming) family film, Ernest Scared Stupid starring the late, great Jim Varney, featuring all the Botswanian lumberjacks you can possibly fit into one episode as well as the next three episodes of Season 2 of Ash vs Evil Dead for good measure.
It's a very fun episode this week, knowwhutimean?

We have a doozy of an episode for you today! There we were, just minding our own business... talking about a contest and giveaway for our listeners, when suddenly the adventures of two lovable hillbillies who get accosted by a bunch of crazy murderous college kids comes breaking all into our conversation!
But seriously, we talk about what we've been watching and reading and listening to and spend a few minutes on the next few episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead before having a heartfelt and provocative conversation that took us both by surprise. This is one you won't want to miss. Check it out!
