After spending a fair amount of time in Asia, Claudia found herself in China and saw an opportunity to change the way the Chinese interacted with wine.

On this episode, I sit down with the brilliant Jen Lin Liu - published author, a trained chef, and owner of the popular Black Sesame Kitchen cooking school in Beijing!

We talk all about her beginnings in Beijing as a journalist which sparked her interest in food - more so, how food can give you a better understanding of a new place and connect you to its people.

Determined to master the culinary arts, we discuss her time at a Chinese cooking school where she met her mentors turned business partners.

We discover some of her highlights from the 6,000-mile journey behind her book 'On the Noodle Road' where she takes on the challenge of figuring out which came first ...the noodle or the spaghetti (pasta)!

The ultimate foodie, its hard not to be inspired by Jen's passion and creativity.

For the second episode, I spend time chatting with Kris Li, co-founder of Beijing's beloved Jing-A Brewing. We take a deeper look into their story, from their humble beginnings of homebrew kits to collaborations with fellow beer fanatics on a global scale. Kris lets us in on their creative process behind their innovative beers and how they've been dealing with the current global pandemic. 

Their latest venture is 京A's participation in the ALL TOGETHER project, a worldwide collaboration initiated by a New York-based brewery, Other Half Brewing, to help workers in the hospitality industry affected by Covid-19. 

Their brand new gorgeous, bright hazy IPA is now on tap in both of their locations and available in cans for takeaway or delivery! Proceeds from this charitable brew will go towards helping 京A staff who were unable to work during Beijing's lockdown, and they'll also be donating half their kegs to other bars in the community that has struggled over the last few months. 

Whether you share Kris and 京A's passion for a well-brewed beverage or not - there's no doubt his story is an interesting one.

Welcome to the first-ever episode of the Feast Diaries podcast! 

This show is all about giving the audience (that's you) a window into the foodie world you may never otherwise have. Just a little heads up, this podcast series was created when I was still based in China.

This week I spoke with the lovely Ruixi, co-founder of Lost Plate Food Tours. Lost Plate has created the perfect balance of trendy and authentic foodie experiences. Their fantastic local-led tours operate in cities across China, Cambodia, and the US - with plans to expand this further across the globe. I chatted with Ruixi about her lifelong love for food and how the business has become what it is today!
