Before the resurrection.
Jesus prayed one thing for His people: that we would be ONE.
This message confronts a truth many avoid: disunity in the Body of Christ is not a personality issue— it is disobedience.
This message will challenge:
Offenses you’ve justified
Distance you’ve normalized
Division you’ve minimized
Pride you didn’t realize was there

Here are the author's notes from this week's message:
*- Unity is not optional—it is Jesus’ expressed desire and prayer for His people.
*-Jesus not only wants us to be united, but He also prayed that we would be united and expressed how He made us united.
9 I am praying for them. I am not praying (requesting) for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they belong to You.
20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching,
21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.
22 I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one [even] as We are one:
*- glory: exercising personal opinion which determines value; what evokes good opinion, i.e., that something has inherent, intrinsic worth.
*- For example, the intrinsic value of a gold ring is higher than that of a plastic ring because of the value of what each is made of.
*- Therefore, the glory (worth) Jesus gave to us, which He received from God, unifies us.
*- If you think, speak, or treat a member of our godly family as worth little or nothing, you’re declaring the same about your own worth.
23 I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.
John 17:9, 20-23 AMPC
*- Because Jesus is in us and God is in Jesus, we have become perfectly united.
*- Therefore, we must never cause division or be divided from our church family, because our unity is Jesus’ strategic plan for the ungodly world to know that God sent Him and that the Father loves us as He loves Jesus.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits.
Romans 12:16 AMPC
*- Refuse self-deception of deeming yourself wise, because godly wisdom is defined by how thoughtful, sensible, or discreet we are—a wisdom proven by a cautious and disciplined character.
*- Gently approach someone you haven't been united with, and share a once-and-for-all repentance and forgiveness moment with them, for whatever may have separated you from them, using God’s love that unifies us.
*- love: for the believer, preferring to “live through Christ” (1 John 4:9,10), i.e., embracing God's will (choosing His choices) and obeying them through His power. Preeminently refers to what God prefers as He “is love” (1 John 4:8,16).
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1 John 4:10-16, 19-20 KJV
