In the story of Jesus and the blind/deaf man, we see a particular pattern of how Jesus served his neighbor. In this case, his act of service moved from a random event to a relational one. We, too, can follow this pattern in serving our neighbor.

For Jesus, eating with someone was an affirmation of the person’s value and worth. It was also how the good news easily spread with joy. We must prioritize time of eating with others as a way of extending the life of Jesus into the lives of others who do not yet know him.

Phillip understood that God was already at working pursuing the Ethiopian. He only needed to listen, wait, and then participate in the work God was doing. It's the same for us.

Many believers today live as if being a Gospel witness is a burden to themselves or others. Consequently, few do so (and with few favorable results). However, when we understand the true nature of evangelism as Jesus intends, we find it really is about blessing others as He leads us via prayer. It’s not a burden to bless.

As Fellowship launches our 10-year goal together to reduce lostness around us by 20%, we will take the next year to focus on an all-church evangelism initiative called BLESS. Simply put, BLESS is a simple tool everyone can use to practice mission with our neighbors.

We are all everyday missionaries. BLESS can help us more easily act like it.

This Christmas we celebrate that hope is here.

God is seeking to be found by us.

The manger is more than a nice human touch on the Christmas story. It was actually a very practical and specific sign that enabled the shepherds to identify the new king. It symbolizes the promising hope that God wants to be found by us so we can experience great joy.

Matthew presents that Joseph was both just and merciful to Mary. We see the cross of Christ reflected in his birth story. Christ’s just and merciful response on the cross echoes that of Joseph’s and calls us to a perseverance fueled by a hope in resurrection—that the best will yet come.
