Listening. Slowing down. Thinking deeply. Focusing. Breathing. Sarah talks about how these disciplines mark those who meditate on God’s word, works and ways. When we do, we are like trees planted by water always yielding fruit. The message finishes with some quiet time for meditation as well as prayer time for our healthcare professionals.

Continuing our series on Anchors, we looked at three areas of Service:  1. Our calling based upon Jesus’s example and teaching 2. Practical service expressions that we can do and 3. How we can be shepherds and leaders in our culture.

Remember those times when life seemed crazy for God’s people? Even during those times, God was at work providing exactly what we need. Sarah reminds us God is still moving today, and we can anchor ourselves in Christ through praise, thanksgiving and worship.

We continued our series on Anchors for the Soul with a focus on the anchor of Confession. We explored three different types of confession: 1. Confession of our faith  2. Confession of our identity and 3. Confession of sin. During this time of social distancing and isolation, it is critical that we still find ways to connect with each other and see healing come as we are vulnerable with each other. We ended by looking at Psalm 32 and all that God provides to us as we confess our sins - “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

From Hebrews 6, which speaks about an unshakeable hope and anchor for our souls, Sarah introduces a new series to equip and encourage us for the days ahead. Starting with “surrender” we’ll look at disciplines in the faith that help us anchor ourselves in Christ.

Through Paul's journeys, Stanley redefines what it means to be a missionary. He examines how we are all representatives of Christ and the importance of keeping Him at the center of our lives despite different attitudes and ideas.

What are you holding onto? Sarah looks at the idolatry of the Athenians and asks what might our idols be today? She encourages us to look beyond unknown gods to Jesus in whom we live and move and have our being.

Remembering the alien, widow and orphan should be top of mind for God’s people, as they are a priority for God.
