Are your bones dry? Do you need new life? Sarah explores the history of God’s breath on his people. Our origin story opens with God breathing life into the nostrils of Adam. God sustains his covenant people with the prophet Ezekiel prophesying breath into dry bones. The Old Covenant is fulfilled with Jesus breathing his last breath, and the New Covenant begins with Jesus Christ risen and breathing his spirit into his disciples.

In John 1:29, Jesus is identified as “…the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” In this Palm Sunday message, we explored Jesus’ identity as the Passover Lamb and his fulfillment of many Passover traditions. We also explored our call as believers given by Paul in Philippians 2 to have the same mindset and worldview as Jesus did. We are called to humble ourselves, identify with humanity and serve. We concluded our time by considering Revelation 5 and why Jesus is worthy of all our praise.

Before Saul the Persecutor became Paul the Apostle, he returned to Tarsus and was Saul the Unknown. With COVID-19, we’ve returned home and are waiting. How might God meet us in this unknown space? Could it have been in Tarsus that Saul began to understand weakness and grace and interdependency in the body of Christ?

With COVID-19 prevention, Wednesday’s earthquake, and our shifting economy, it’s easy to feel disoriented, afraid, lost and humbled. Sarah takes us to the story of Saul’s conversion where he was taken “off-trail.” May God use these hard times to shed light on our paths, help us see more clearly, and fill us with a greater measure of the Holy Spirit.

Upon His resurrection from the dead, Jesus gave us keys of authority that enable us to go and do the same works that He did when on earth (John 14:12). But do we believe this? John teaches about some specific everyday keys that believers can and should exercise regularly with confidence.

During our on-line service, we joined together in prayer for our children, youth and university students, economy, healthcare workers and the end of the virus. We invite you to listen and pray in agreement as we turn our eyes to the Lord and trust in His power and love to bring us through these times.

We explored the history and context for Saul coming onto the scene in Acts 9. Saul, later known as Paul, was shaped and impacted by his unique background and training, and in turn, dramatically shaped the early church and oriented it on the person of Christ.
