Episode 5-20. Two Homicides from 2011

Ten years.  One decade ago. 2011 was a busy year.   A Lot was going on in the world.  

In 2011, Libya's Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was killed by a very serious group of people who didn't like him very much.

In May, 2011 the United States killed Osama bin Laden. This was also done by a very, very serious group of people, who did not care for him much either.

In North Carolina, 519 homicides occurred in 2011.  Up 6.3 %.     75  individuals were killed in domestic violence-related incidents.  Scott discusses two of these incidents. 

Episode 5-19. Executed twice. Was it Double Jeopardy?

1944 murder of a Louisiana druggist in his own backyard.  Lost evidence and unchallenged confessions. There was a trial of one 15-year-old defendant. He was found guilty and executed.  Twice.

Episode 5-18.  The thirty-year murder case.

 A 1900 argument over one man’s wife ends in the death of one of two Mountain cousins.   The shooter disappears only to reappear at the sheriffs office turning himself in and demanding a trial 30 years later.  Why then? A.C.A.B. is an acronym meaning “All Cops Are Bas****.”

Episode 5-15 The massacre of the Donnelly family.

An Irish immigrant family who settled in the backcountry of Upper Canada. 

Physical and court fights over property, money, transport franchises, and other issues between the Donnelly family and their neighbors turned deadly one night in  February  1880.

James Donnelly opened his front door one morning and was met by 15 to 20 disguised night riders.

The men killed the family then set the farm on fire.

Who did it and why?  Was the Local Church involved? Who was guilty and innocent?  Listen as Scott explains.

Episode 6-3, A Certified Nursing Assistant on Death Row
