This unique episode is with Corinne Devin who is still on active duty. A commander in the Navy and International Ms. for 2020, she has managed to live a dual life of service dedicated to inspiring and serving others. We discuss her military and the obstacles she has faced and overcome every step of the way. We talk about the impact of being stationed in Italy during the early days of the Covid quarantine to getting orders and relocating to Japan during the pandemic. I learn more about pageants and how it is possible if you work with your chain of command to pursue other dreams like being in pageants or being a racecar driver while still serving. We talk about leadership and how she plans to continue to serve and inspire after she retires in just a few more years.

I am joined by Pamela Heal, Founder of The Heal Network. We chat about her experience while serving in the Navy. Appearance can be a huge problem for a woman while serving. Too much attention by men can lead to negative relationships with other females and can endanger you with the males. In this case it led to a lot of unfortunate experiences. An unlikely friendship formed between Johnna and I while stationed in Great Lakes, IL. Though we spoke often before I got out of the military, I never really knew her whole story prior to her arrival at my duty station. And I didn't know what horrible events were to take take place after I discharged. In this episode I learn all about the harassment she endured beginning at MEPS. I learn about trials she faced in Hawaii and what caused her to decided to leave the Navy. I also discover how her transition out lead her to becoming a life coach. Honor thought boot camp was a summer camp. Then active duty happened. After being persuaded by a recruiter to join the Navy instead of going into the Air Force as an officer, Honor faces harsh reality as an undesignated sailor. We talk about Honor's experience, life on ship, multiple assaults and how she gained the strength to heal, share her story and release her pain. This is a BIG episode! A full length double interview with two incredible female veterans. I chat with both the editor in chief and publisher of AVOW Magazine, a publication made by female veterans for female veterans. Much like this podcast. I am so pleased to be featured in the Winter 2020/2021 issue. I speak with Christina and Sheila about each of their active duty stories. I learn about the blatant and open sexual harassment Christina endured as well as how Sheila's difficult transition back to civilian life led her to joining motorcycle clubs. She also shares her experiences as one of very few young women in the American Legion. We go in depth about military programming and the need to deprogram as we transition back to military life. In the summer of 2020 Lucy Del Gaudio found herself preparing to testify on Capitol Hill before Congress in the wake of Vanessa Guillen's murder at Fort Hood. We talk about how we learned of Vanessa's story and all the criminal activity taking place at that base. Lucy shares her story of feeling uneasy displaying femininity early in her career and the assault that ultimately derailed her. We talk about her powerful journey to healing and how she became an outspoken advocate for female veterans. We talk about holistic healing, meditation, the importance of voting and the powerful veteran women who organized to support the family of Vanessa Guillen and the Women Veterans March in Washington D.C. last summer.  We learn how to "organize our butterflies," and she gives great advice for our female veteran sisters.
