The Fighting Moose

I read all the time. I read in my alone time, I listen to audiobooks to and from work, I listen to audiobooks with my son as we go to bed at night, and I read a lot of other stuff when it interests me. It is one thing that I hope to instill in my son is a love for reading. If I don't impart that onto him, hopefully I have inspired you to read more as we are taking these adventures through the literary and realms.

Thomas Edison is probably my favorite inventor. Not only do we share the same boyhood home of Port Huron, MI, I think he was a pretty cool dude. Not that I knew him or anything but of what I have seen and read about him, he seems very interesting, very smart and very creative. Who knows, maybe someday they will get around to the whole time travel thing and we can go back and meet these influential people from the past.

It hasn't always been an interest of mine, but I find that in the present, I am drawn to read a lot about the Revolutionary War and the early parts of The United States of America. While reading this biography, I think I found a new person to read about. I have read a few books on Washington, a few books on John Adams, and a smattering of small biographies about other people in the early days of America. One of the goals of this podcast is to encourage you and possibly inspire you to do more reading. I do have to thank my mom for my love of reading since she always encouraged me to read.

Back around the 4th of July, I was talking with my brother-in-law and cousin about a book they had read which had to deal with finances. After our conversation, I read the book and it made me think of money in a whole new way of life and have since been trying to improve my family's financial situation and learn all I can about how to be set for the rest of our lives. There are a ton of resources out there and I encourage you to take a look at your financial situation and try to improve it. There is always room for improvement.

Today, we had to change gears a little bit. When I schedule out my podcasts, I tend to just look at the story titles and if I like it and it piques my interest, I choose the story. Most of the time this works and I can do a story that is good for all ages, sometimes it doesn't work, today was one of those cases. Ut don't worry, or old friend Thornton W. Burgess came through for us and provided us with a story.

Today, we go a pirating with an abridged version of Daniel Dafoe's book, “Captain Singleton.” Now I must ask you, what is a pirates favorite Star Wars character? Arrr-2 D2. I don't know what they said for joke back in the old pirate days but hopefully that one would have made them laugh.

Today, we solve another mystery with Sherlock Holmes. When I asked my son what I should do for the next story, he requested a Sherlock Holmes story. I like these stories and hopefully you do to. If you haven't yet, head on over to iTunes and leave us a review. I would love to hear what you have to say about the podcast.

If time travel were possible, where, who, or what would you visit? For myself, and my wife, visiting the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed is on our list. Well today, we take a step back into time and read a short biography about the author of the Declaration, Thomas Jefferson.
