The Fighting Moose

Good Friday is the day that we remember the death of Jesus. Easter Sunday is the day that we celebrate him conquering death and rising from the dead. Also, in today's episode we discover the reason that it seems that Easter Sunday moves around on the calendar from year to year.

I dare say that most everybody has heard of the story of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” If not, you have probably heard of the church Notre Dame in recent days due to the recent tragedy that struck the cathedral. If you aren't aware, there was a major fire in the cathedral. The French people have said that they plan on rebuilding the cathedral and money has already started coming in. And, you have probably guessed that today's story is “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” written by Victor Hugo.

Good Friday is one of the most celebrated holidays in the Christian church. It is a day that we come together to remember the death of Jesus on the cross and we lament that he died, but what we will find out in a couple of days is that death couldn't hold him down, he rose again. He did this to save everybody for those who are willing to believe.

Today, we look at a story about Maundy Thursday, another day in holy week. This story actually resonates with a goal of the podcast because it talks about serving other people which is one thing that I try to do myself. When we put other's before ourselves, in my opinion, it would immensely change the world we live in.

Sunday, April 14th is the start of Holy Week. In The Bible, it tells us that Palm Sunday was the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and the crowd laid palm branches at the feet of the donkey. This is a big week for Christians as we gather together to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus and I encourage you to attend a service sometime this week. There are many denominations to choose from and just because you don't like one doesn't mean you won't like another.

Sometimes, it is interesting what we learn just by accident. In today's story, we see how Little Joe Otter's granddad learned to slide, not necessarily by accident but as a means of survival.

The first of April is known as All Fools' Day or April Fools Day. It is a day of practical jokes and all around fun. As it says in the story today, have fun doing practical jokes but just remember, only do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.

March is Reading Month. Today is the last day of reading month but that doesn't mean that you have to stop reading. Today, we go on an undersea adventure in “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” written by Jules Verne. Hopefully you will continue any reading goals that you may have started this month or if you haven't started any reading goals, maybe you will start one next month.

I started this podcast with my son in mind, as a way to read to him when I wasn't at hime due to my work schedule. Well, yesterday, in the car, he said that he wanted me to do more stories about Thomas Edison. So I returned to a book that was used back in July of 2018 titled, “Edison: His Life and Inventions”. We will be using this book every month because my son has set the goal of doing a Thomas Edison episode 2 times a month.
