The Film Snobs episodes
- Perfect Days (2023) (THE MODERN MAN #3)
Snobbies. We. Are. ZEN! Eric’s pick has taken us back to Tokyo with Wim Wenders and we LOVED it. This pick is called, “Perfect Days,” and we loved talking about it. This film deals with Routines, rhythms, family trauma, simplicity, clean cities, Japan, contentment, sacred spaces, and so much more. This film really made us want to bring the esthetics of Japan to the United States. Jared would probably be totally fine living there for the rest of his life. Watch this film and slip into a beautiful joy and stillness. Enjoy!

WE are BACK! We are here with Caleb’s pick and he picked a INSTANT classic. From the Coen brothers in 2007, comes “No Country For Old Men.” We loved talking through this film and the topics that we decided to pluck from the film. Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Woody Harrelson…I mean guys…..Let’s Freaking Go. If this film doesn’t grab you by the neck the entire film, we don’t know what will! Enjoy!

1 hr 23 min - Playtime (1967) (THE MODERN MAN #1)
Welcome Snobbies to the new topic of the podcast. Cody’s pick is the topic “THE MODERN MAN.” He decided to pick the film “Playtime” by Jacques Tati. This film RULES. Two snobs gave it an EASY 5 stars and we really enjoyed talking about this film. A film that moves through Paris (TATI TOWN) and a variety of hilarity ensues. A film that almost could pass as a silent film. A transcendental experience that is hard to describe but WELL WORTH watching. Go enjoy this incredible and delightful film and then check out the pod. Enjoy!

1 hr 21 min - Avalon (1990) (AMERICA #3)
AMERICA!!! AMERICAAAAAA!!! Okay, let’s dive into it. This week was Eric’s pick and he chose a film that the snobs really enjoyed. It was a film by director Barry Levinson, “Avalon.” This film really dipped its toes into the pool of what made America great. It wasn’t cooperations. It wasn’t golf leaf everywhere. It wasn’t taking all the immigrants out of the country. Fully the opposite. This film was about a family of immigrants who have dreams and those dreams are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed this film and we hope you watch it and find the true meaning of what it means to be an American. Enjoy!

WELCOME BACK Snobbies. Today we wrap up the visual prompt with Jared’s pick. Today he chose a film from director Claude Berri, “Jean de Florette.” This French film was chosen to represent the film but also to mirror the heat we’re all feeling this week. We really enjoyed talking through this film and its many themes. This was a beautiful film and was a sad film. Also, we learned that this was PART 1!! Anyway, enjoy this discussion and the film.
