So buckle up.  This film is by director: Ruben Östlund and features two models, some rich people, Woody Harrelson, and an island. This film goes places you would not anticipate and says things that will stick with you for days...maybe years. With themes like rich/poor hierarchy, equality, survival, socialism, marxism, capitalism, the list goes on. This film was SUCH a blast to talk about and Caleb was out of town, so Jared, Eric and guest star JOHN FRANCK joins us to talk through what was for Eric, a fast 5 star experience. Enjoy!

WELCOME Snobbies to the second LIVE Film Snobs Event! We recorded this 10/27/2022. We love putting these on and bringing all of you out has helped us buy some decent microphones!! So thank you! Joining us for the Live event is Warren Epstein! He is a very special guest and MAJOR supporter of films at Kimball’s Peak Theater. He’s features at the beginning of every film that comes on! He is the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Pikes Peak State College as well as the former arts editor and film critic at The Gazette. Warren talks with us snobs, Jared, Caleb, and Eric as we discuss the masterpiece that is, “The Night of the Hunter.” Charles Laughton’s one and only film, this classic is breathtaking and yet so incredibly simple. We dive in and discuss the good, the bad, and the beautiful that this film has to offer. Easily one of our best guests, Warren brings loads of commentary and laughs as he also gives insight into life as a critic. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

Sorry for the late release again snobbies! I WAS TRICK OR TREATING!! …and then I forgot…Anyway, today we have a late addition to SPOOKTOBER 3, Jared’s pick…the 2022’s modern Gothic horror and film that has MUCH to say…Alex Garland’s, “Men.” This film is NOT, I repeat NOT for the faint of heart and should not be watched unless you are prepared for it. The imagery, sound, and themes in this film are worth talking about but are difficult to get to if you can’t get past the imagery. Men are horrible? Men are redeemable? Men are Toxic? Sure. We LOVED talking through these themes and LUCKY YOU!! You don’t necessarily have to watch it to hear about it! Join us as we, 3 men, stumble through a podcast that ABSOLUTELY should have had a woman on it, haha. Enjoy!

This week was Eric’s pick and we watched a CLASSIC of Americana filming and visual effects. This film was written and produced by Steven Spielberg…also we think it was also directed by him too..shhhhhhh. SPOOKTOBER IS HERE!!! Snobbies! WE have Arrived at the 3rd installment of Spooktober with Caleb, Jared, and Eric. Sorry this is coming a day late! This time we are releasing every WEEK! Just like the old days, in order to get them out by Halloween! This film comes from one of our favorite directors and most unrealized directors of our time. From such hits as Signs, The Sixth Sense, The Village, M. Night Shyamalan’s, “The Visit.” In this film, a pair of siblings go and visit their grandparents in PA during the winter time and find out that all is not what they think it is. A found footage film that unravels into something truly tense, creepy, and unexpected. Jared also goes on a TARE about how M. Night is one of the most mocked directors and misunderstood filmmakers of our generation. Join us as we gush about this film and agree that it is a perfect entry into SPOOKTOBER 3!!!

This is the FINAL film in the NEW ERA for the Film Snobs. Welcome back everyone, we missed you. This week we have Jared’s pick and what an incredible pick it truly is. A film by legendary director who is known for such films like, Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Darkest Hour, and Anna Karenina comes a film for all you hopeless romantics out there…”Cyrano.” Staring Peter Dinklage and Haley Bennett…guys….this film was so good. We talk about unrequited love, war, poems, passion, and how does this man keep doing it??! Joe Wright GETS IT! We were so pleasantly pleased with this film and we were so happy to talk about it. Welcome back Snobbies! WE’RE BACK!! It’s interesting getting used to the new every other week schedule. I like it though. ANYWAY, today we have Eric’s pick for NEW ERA and he decided to go with a film that piggy-backs off the CLASSIC clout of an epic series of films…The Rocky Films…Ryan Coogler’s “CREED” Can we take you higher? This film has all the feels as Sly gives probably his most Oscar worthy performance of his career. The guy is a total legend and Michael B. Jordan is no less of a heavy hitter in this EPIC film about legacy, heritage, family, and fighting for your life. We had a blast talking about Creed and we just freaking LOVE the Rocky films. Guys, get pumped. Enjoy.

WELCOME! To….THE NEW ERA! Snobbies, this is a momentous occasion. Today we enter into the new film topic…The New Era. We decided that with Ethan and Ricky gone, we would usher in the new and…basically the same Film Snobs as you know them, but we would watch films that dealt with a personal change, entering into a new space, find one’s self, etc. We are ALSO starting a new schedule that means we will be dropping episodes every other week now and not every week. If you’re a dedicated follower and have listened to ALL of out episodes…well…then…what the heck are you doing with your life? Really. If NOT, then you can go backing our catalogue and check out old episodes and get caught up! We have quite a few. THIS WEEK, Caleb was picking the film and he picked something only Jared has seen, a movie about rebirth, finding one’s self again, and things not being what you once thought. The film is by Christian Petzold and is called, “Phoenix.” We are excited to talk through this and for you to be here at the beginning of something new, but we will never forget our roots. Ladies and GENTLEMEN! This is the first LIVE event for The Film Snobs and what an event it was. After gathering fans and friends in The Kimball’s Theater to watch a special showing of The Young Girls of Rochefort and…it was a delight! Jacques Demy directs this pastel joy driven gem of a film. The music, the young love, the summer feeling…this film brings the feels to everyone. Jared brings candy for correct answers to questions, we get some audience participation, my wife leaves after the movie! It was a blast. Enjoy!

Snobbies. This is technically the second to last episode with Ricky and Ethan, but the last episode we as friends spend with them. Next week we will be premiering THE FILM SNOBS LIVE! episode that was so very special to us all. Thank you all for coming out to see the film with us at Kimball’s and for staying for the podcast. But anyway, this episode is about the conclusion of the long long LONG awaited War and Peace pt.4 episode. The Snobs started this journey many months ago and we are concluding it here.
