This animated EPIC is packed with delicious animation, beautiful shots, and a tragic story. This film is directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and is called, “Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.” This film, in the words of Cody is the perfect middle ground as it doesn’t feel like a halloween movie made by Disney or an over the top horror flick. WE really had a good time with this film and found it to be the perfect Sppoktober addition to the collection. Enjoy!

SNOBBIES! Bringing to you SPOOKTOBER #2!! This week we have Eric’s pick and he decided to go the wacky route. If you remember our very first episode SPOOKTOBER #1, where we featured “House,” this film made us feel right at home. GUEST Alec Brunk joined us today as Eric’s first guest on the pod! This film’s director Ricky Lau brings us “Mr. Vampire.” This film from 1985 brought possibly the most laughs we’ve had on this episode. A mixture of killing vampires, sexy ghosts, KungFu vamp slaying,  comedic assistants, misty hill gorillas, hopping undead, I mean…it goes on and on. This film rules and we had such a fun time talking through it. Enjoy!

CUE spooky witch laughter and zealous lightening storms!! That’s right! It’s SPOOKTOBER #4!!!! We are PSYCHED! to be back in the SPOOKTOBER atmosphere. Caleb, Cody, and Eric take on Caleb’s pick for tonight (Jared is in Europe…having a terrible time) a film that is melancholic in nature and definitely sets up some sad snobs action. A film directed by LENGENDARY director Lars von Trier, “Melancholia.” This film was seen by all and the rewatch was improved in the eyes of some and sustained in the eyes of others. We talked about artistic shots, mental health, world death, how absolutely strange this film was followed by a discussion on how smart this film was…everything was covered and nothing was covered. Hey Snobbies! Welcome to the Second ever Snobbie’s Choice week. Last time, Tom picked The Truman Show. This week we have Nick Maddie who is here to give us the ethical discussion film of a lifetime, from director Ben Affleck’s debut…”Gone Baby Gone.” This film GETS. US. HEATED! WE really enjoyed talking about Right and Wrong, bad girlfriends, Bad mom’s, love for a child, and we talk about what each of us would do in their place. This film has some sensitive material as the film is about a child being taken from her home and can trigger some people. This was a great episode and we enjoyed talking through it. Enjoy!

Welcome Snobbies! to the last episode in the ChatGPT series where Artificial Intelligence picks our movies for us. The topic has been a lot of fun and we have seen some really cool films. Tonight we have Jared picking the film from the list ChatGPT gave him. The film that was chosen was from legendary director Éric Rohmer, “A Summer’s Tale.” This film deal with ultra-realism, where the other film we did for this topic, 8 1/2, did surrealism. The film follows a man on his way through the French coast side and his many interactions with women where choices are made for him. We had different opinions about this film, but we all agreed that it was the best of the bunch.

BARBENHEIMER!!!!! It’s here. Very late to the overall cultural party, but we recorded this a while ago. The snobs minus Caleb are here to talk about Barbie and Oppenheimer. You know the drill. Hopefully you’ve seen one or both of these films. If not, what have you been doing with your life?? ChatGPT is back and it is ready to pick another film for us. CODY IS BACK! and we are happy about it. This week Cody chooses the film that chatGPT gaffes us from another legendary Italian director Federico Fellini, “8 1/2” This film is a film about film and a story about the director himself. A master of the surreal style and arguably the father or surrealism, this film really took us on a journey. The film deals with women, film, life, choices, regret, and love. This film should be watched side-by-side with “Bardo” (2022) a modern masterclass on surrealism. The team is split on this film but we have plenty to talk about. We hope you enjoy!

WE’RE BACK! That’s right babyyyy, we’re back and we are doing a new topic today. This one we have been waiting to do for a long time now and the time has finally arrived. Caleb brought up the idea that we should let chatGPT pick a film for us to watch. We asked AI “Give us a movie that a film snob would watch.” and we chose from a list of 10. WE originally picked Apocalypse Now….but it did not exist AT ALL on the internet for streaming, renting, or buying! Snobbies! Welcome…to the end of Movies Of the Middle East, or MOME as we’ve been calling it. Tonight we have a special guest COLIN! who hasn’t been on the pod since Do The Right Thing two years ago! Tonight’s pick comes from Jared and is by director Nadav Lapid, “Ahed’s Knee.” This film, coming out of Israel, tackles a possibly autobiographical story about something the director went through while featuring a film. The film deals with nationalism, censorship, a director’s voice, as well as many interesting camera choices that had us scratching our heads….sometimes in a good way!
