Who is the Lord of the Flies? Why is everyone so mean to Piggy :( ?? And is Trump more like Jack or Ralph (based on evidence found via YouTube conspiracy videos)????
We discuss in this, the first episode of the new season of The Finer Things Club. Listen in to hear me hang out with a group of boys on the island that is their kitchen table in the city of Alhambra and TALK ABOUT CLASSIC LITERATURE, MY FRIEND.
During this next season of TFTC, I will be focusing on reading all the classics we were forced to read in middle and high school because I used a lot of Spark Notes back then, and now, I'm a grownup who follows through without taking shortcuts.
Next episode, we will be reading "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. See you then!
Intro music is "Grief" by Dee Yan-Key.
Who is Carol Danvers anyway? How does time work in the Marvel Universe? AND WHAT DID NICK FURY TYPE IN THE LAST SCENE OF THE CAPTAIN MARVEL MOVIE?
In this episode of the Finer Things Club, we talk origin stories, old-timey accents, and Captain Marvel's human friend with whom he is cosmically connected. Plus: I have trouble with the word eponymous.
Check us out next time with "Five Feet Apart" by Mikki Daughtry, Rachael Lippincott, and Tobias Iaconis.
Why is everyone so obsessed with Beck? Also, why do we kind of think Joe is a little bit of a cutie?
You've binged the Lifetime turned Netflix YOU and now it's time to talk about the book. What's the difference between the two and how are they better than each other? In this episode of The Finer Things Club, we talk "daddy issues," the act of not wearing a bra, and just a little bit about Millie Bobby Brown.
Next time, we'll be reading the Captain Marvel comics.
(An explicit episode for an explicit book)
How rich and obsessed with you does a man have to be for you to deal with being bossed around?
In this special Valentine's Day episode of The Finer Things Club, we talk sexual awakenings, self-slut shaming, and whether or not Jeff Bezos is hot. Are you in or not????
Next time, we'll be reading the original format of the Netflix-binged show "You."
We read the book so you don't have to! (Though, you should always read the book.)
People with mental illness are immune from going "crazy"??? The book is (sort of) different from the movie???? White Tom has really good ideas??????????????????
This and more.
TRIP THINKS THERE'S CHAPTERS WHERE NOTHING HAPPENS and Nick tells us some stuff about Atticus that makes us feel weird in the belly.
Join us for another high school classic with Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird," a book that makes you nostalgic for a time where women weren't allowed to be on a jury and a black man's word was worth nothing -- but also, the summers felt slow and people had lemonade on the porch every midmorning! Refreshing!
This book as well as this episode deals with issues of suicide and sexual assault.
Anyway, here's the Thirteen Reasons Why episode.
