Welcome Back
Episode Two: Eve’s Lament. This story is not a meditation on infidelity, but rather on the avenues of escape.
This story was inspired by a band I stumbled upon at the Nowhere Lounge at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas—Lizzy and The Triggerman. While playing pool and sipping whiskey, this Lizzy took the mic and said to the room, “This next song is of course about feminine rage, as many of my songs are, and it is a song of escape… This is Eve’s Lament.”
And an excellent song it is. It inspired the title of this story and the story itself. Although it is set in a more contemporary setting, the illustrious and wealthy Mercer Island, its themes mirror the song. When one has everything they could have ever dreamed, why do they still want more?
So settle in and let’s get into it.
Cheers,
