Changing pace a bit, I brought Britt Jill onto the show this week to discuss the parallels between outdoor sporting and fitness. I wanted to showcase this because so many people think "fitness" is done inside a gym, and you need to lift weights to become "fit" and to get "healthy".
The truth is you don't have to touch a weight in your life, if lifting weights isn't your thing. What you need to do is find something you enjoy that keeps you active, craft some parameters inside of that, and run with it. At the end of the day, if you don't enjoy what you're doing, you won't stick with it.
We discussed:
-Types of outdoor sporting activities
-How to get into these activities more, if you enjoy them
-How to train and prepare for rigorous hunts
-What Britt's favorite place to hunt, animal to hunt, game meat to eat is, and more
-Benefits of taking on more outdoor activity (ie. Vitamin D, exercise that can be fun, social benefits, reduce cortisol)
-SO MUCH MORE!
So who is Britt Jill? Britt, an outdoor sportswoman since she was young, began her career in the fitness space, managing a kickboxing gym and launching her own fitness app. She remains in the fitness space, but her career has taken her down a path of outdoor sporting, managing the social media for 14 different outdoor sporting companies (some of them, you've likely heard of at some point). She's such a fun, badass woman to get to know!
If you're into the outdoors, I recommend you give her lifestyle/outdoors IG page a follow (@brit_jill_), and if you want to take advantage of the free, simple workouts she provides, follow her fitness profile (@britjillfitness).
