The Five Count

During this Halloween episode of The Five Count we discussed our least favorite Halloween candy, gave away tickets to Twin Cities Con 2023, and tried our best to escape Mystery Manor with the help of our friend Sir Simon Shriek. Happy Halloween!

During this episode of The Five Count we begged for money for the KMSU Pledge Drive, spoke with author Jeff Hayes about his new book Sleepaway Camp: Making the Movie and Reigniting the Campfire, and spoke with musician Frankie Vinci, the man behind the music for the film Sleepaway Camp. Ton was so scared his head was leaking!

This was the 1,000th episode of The Five Count! During the show we reminisced about the early days of the show back in 2004, played all the songs we originally played on the first episode, and heard from Dylan Schultz (who hosted the show that eventually spawned The Five Count) and Chuck Korpi (who was on the very first episode.) Here’s to another 1,000 shows!

This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with musician Taco. Taco is best known for his hit single Puttin’ on the Ritz. He also had hits like Cheek to Cheek, Singin’ in the Rain and Let’s Face The Music (and Dance). During the show he discussed the early days of his career, the huge success of Puttin’ on the Ritz and his After Eight album, and his decision to return to music. Look for new Taco music comin’ your way!

During the rest of the show we discussed our favorite episodes of Good Times, Ton explained why he listened to so much death metal in high school, and Dustin tried to figure out who Antonio Banderas was. It’s still a mystery!

This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with musician Joey Belladonna. Joey is best known as the singer for the band Anthrax. He also played with bands like Bible Black and Chief Big Way. During the show he discussed his memories of Anthrax appearing on Married… with Children, his thoughts on the possibility of Anthrax making it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and his Journey cover band Beyond Frontiers. During the rest of the show we explained why Eric Clapton is awful, tried to figure out why we aren’t considered as metal as other shows, and Dustin spoiled the ending of the film Expend4bles. Sorry ‘bout that!

The Five Count recently had a chance to speak with musician Zac Holtzman. Zac is best known as the founder, singer, and guitar player for the band Dengue Fever. Combining Cambodian pop music and lyrics with psychedelic rock, Dengue Fever has been making music for more than 20 years. Dengue Fever’s new album Ting Mong is out now!

During this episode of The Five Count we celebrated the 40th anniversary of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, discussed our favorite He-Man action figures, and Ton told us the tale of He-Man and the Mask of Evil. We are truly the He-Man of public radio!

The Five Count recently had a chance to speak with musician Michael Gira. Michael is best known as the founder, guitarist and singer for the band Swans. He’s also played with the bands Angels of Light and World of Skin. See Swans live on Sept. 20 at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis!

During this episode of The Five Count we ate some plastic green army men, Ton explained his love/hate relationship with American Chopper, and we discussed why Elvis movies would’ve been better with El Santo in them. After that, we went to Jack in the Box!
