On MLK Day, I spoke to a group of 60 young ladies for the MLK Inspiring Dreams Young Ladies Summit presented by the Y.E.S. Club Inc in Baltimore.

It was day filled with awesome women speaking on their careers and how to follow your dreams. As the keynote speaker and because I think I’m a male Brooklyn rapper, of course, I injected Hip-Hop in my speech.

Real talk-I loved 2016 so I can't relate to the angry 2016 memes. I’m not subscribing to the thoughts that my 2016 wasn’t everything because it was. I finally realized what makes me happy and it’s more than dream chasing. It’s actually living in the moment that brings me joy. It’s delaying instant gratification for a future that will undoubtedly be brighter than anything I can ever imagine.

But I don’t want my fly girls to be anxious about the new year. 2017 can be whatever you want it to be. Do the work. Be a woman of less excuses.  Be more disciplined.  Leveling up isn’t easy but what God has for you in 2017 will blow your mind.

2016 was just the dress rehearsal. My  2017 is going to be lit too.

No Excuses!: The Power of Self- Discipline by Brian Tracy

Pictures nor words can describe my trip to Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand. It was such an awesome experience. After 20 hours of traveling, I was engulfed into a culture that just blew my mind. I look at everything differently since I’ve been back home; from my eating habits ( Thai food is flavorful, quick to make and fresh), how I lack nothing (Thai people aren’t concerned about money [although some of very wealthy], they are more concerned about their happiness), and how community is everythang ( the people of Thailand all seem to be on one accord).

I went to Thailand with One Love Travel Club (which I highly recommend!) and it was my first time traveling with a travel club. I realized that although, I loved participating in the pre-scheduled events, I’m more of a solo traveler. I love venturing off to explore on my own or just lounging by the pool with a good book in hand.

But One Love Travel Club does the best job at planning a trip that immerses you directly in the culture of the country that you are visiting. Once in Phuket, we volunteered at a local school, took a cooking class and went island hopping. When we were in Bangkok, we took a scooter tour around the city and saw the Ayutthaya ruins. It was just a dope experience. It was a trip of no bras, no makeup and converses. It was freedom!

This has been my quote to live by for the past couple of weeks. When my coins start to look funny,  my first reaction is to look for another job. While in the same breath, my goal in the next six months is to be 100% an entrepreneur.  So, if my goal is to be 100% an entrepreneur when the going gets tough, why do I search for a job when I'm building two businesses? 

I have to learn to use what I've got to get what I want.  In my latest podcast, I spill the tea on my last Tinder date, how my clothing line, Pop Style is being sold at a boutique in Baltimore, how I'm preparing for my trip to Thailand, and how I lack nothing. 2017 is going to be lit!

I've been trying to get my dating on. It's been challenging. I'm not going to say hard because my life coach told me that if I say dating is hard than it will be. So I'm sticking with it's challenging. The challenge is finding someone who genuinely wants to get to know me and not play games. Netflix and Chill has killed dating. In my latest podcast, I give the tea on how to stop being friendly to the f*ckboys.

 Because I do what I say I'm going to do.  I launched a clothing line called, Pop Style Clothing.  Pop Style Clothing is a streetwear line that shatters trends. I made it for Black Twitter and beyond. My goal is to turn your favorite saying into a lifestyle. 

It's been a journey but I am determined to go from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur. The dream is real but the hustle is even more real! Instead of participating in Howard University's homecoming like a bystander, I worked all homecoming weekend. I covered Howard's converted Yardfest via backstage where I interviewed Yardfest's headliner, Fabolous. I also met Faith Evans and Lil' Uzi Vert. 

I then set up shop on Saturday during Howard's tailgate and sold my clothing. The hustle is real. In my latest podcast, I spill the tea on the loneliness of entrepreneurship, how I made Fabolous laugh and the best advice Debbie Allen has for young career women.
