ACTING WHILE BLACK: TK.6

" Gratitude Will Take You Far"

"The AWB Show" is a recorded safe space for actors, writers, comedians and film makers of color to talk craft, trade notes, vent, share experiences and generally give insight into the unique journey of what it's like  making your way in 'the biz' as an artist of the melanin persuasion . Every episode 'That Actor Guy' Martin Bats Bradford and 'The BlackActorPedia' Lawrence J. Weber will check in and talk shop with a guest and get their perspectives on what it's like to be acting...while black..

"You have to have that thick skin, you need it..Most people that get torn down, get torn down and they quit or they're just acting, but they quit...they want to keep that ego up, that appearance, even though they hate it"

"I go through too many ups and downs to send you on that mission, You've got to want it"

"I Was Powerful Enough To Make These Things Happen"

"I just picture Super Mario jumping through worlds, like next level then the next level, that's this game"

"It just feels weird being this tiny woman look up at all of these big men on set, where are the women? I want to see a lot more working women"

"Just a little leave in, washed it and let it go...after lunch, I was a poodle. They don't always understand..."

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet -- one of their own.
