Through guidance and support for individuals transitioning from pediatric to adult care, Crescent helps patients navigate the journey of the healthcare system. Crescent Foundations aims to increase awareness, advocacy, and support for evidence-based care for patients, families, and communities affected by SCD, through collaborative action and innovative initiatives.

About Dr. Kim Smith-Whitley: Dr. Smith-Whitley joined GBT in May 2021 as executive vice president and head of research and development (R&D). Dr. Smith-Whitley is a world-renowned hematologist and sickle cell disease thought leader and advocate with over 30 years of experience. Most recently, she was the Clinical Director of Hematology and Director of the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
