SAVANNAH HAUK is the author of “Living with Crossdressing: Defining a New Normal” and “Living with Crossdressing: Discovering your True Identity“. While both focus on the male-to-female (mtf) crossdresser, “Defining a New Normal” delves into crossdressing and relationships and “Discovering Your True Identity” looks at the individual crossdressing journey. Her latest achievement is a TEDx Talk entitled "Demystifying the Crossdressing Experience".

Savannah is a male-to-female dual-gender crossdresser who is visible in the Upstate of South Carolina, active in local groups and advocating as a public speaker at LGBTQ+ conferences and workshops across the United States. At the moment, Savannah is working on more books, blogs, and projects focused on letting every crossdresser–young and mature–find their own confidence, expression, identity and voice.

IN THIS EPISODE, Julie and Savannah have been graciously invited to a private event hosted by Susan Holtz and the officers of Chicago Gender Society. But, the main event is Julie and Savannah putting on a podcast show for their live virtual audience--a first for our dynamic duo. After a bit of warm up chatter, Julie and Savannah yield the floor to Susan for a brief bio of herself and a history of this important Chicago-based group. Everyone else has a chance to share their story before the entire group moves on to The Fox and the Phoenix Podcast's first LIVE question and answer session. From wigs versus natural hair, from bare shoulders to the right outfit, from the stories of these women's first time going out to be embraced by those who love them most dear, the episode is a light-hearted, personal, and informative glimpse into the minds of folx in the gender galaxy.

In this episode, Julie and Savannah dive into a section of Savannah's second "Living with Crossdressing" book, namely "Types of Crossdressers". Spring-boarding from last week's episode and sharing a letter Savannah received from a website email letter, Julie and Savannah discuss the types of crossdressers dual-transgender folx can be and can express in their own way. They talk about how living in the non-binary does not mean you have to chose--or stay--in a specific or narrow swim lane of gender expression. Many male-to-female folx may reside within the same category of expression all their lives, or they may evolve, leap, or switch to other ways of expression, or they embody several categories at the same time. The most important point in to be happy wherever you decide to rest your heels.

In this episode, Savannah brings to the podcast table her concern for a dear friend who is had her own fears about changing her gender expression when it comes to her femininity. From a Girl-Next-Door vibe to the pinks and frills and ponytails of the world of Sissies, how does an established and admired social media darling go from a developed visual trans-brand  many in the community look up to a brand new idea of what femininity looks and feels like for her? Julie and Savannah bat around in conversation the need to be authentic to your own needs above all others. Cast fear aside, embody and embolden your truth, and never break at the words of the naysayers.

In this episode, Julie talks about the state of traveling in a COVID world as she talks about her own trip out-of-state recently. Then, she asks Savannah for her experiences and thoughts about those men who only have their business or periodic travel as their avenue and outlet to explore their femininity. How does one juggle the need to bring their femme selves in their luggage versus the risk of having their bags searched in the TSA line in front of colleagues, friends or family. What about other forms of transportation? Planes, trains, and automobiles!

in this episode, Julie shares her struggles and sadness over a prospective client who asked for a look book return after their wife found out about it. Then, the conversation turns to married partners who see their husband's once-a-month crossdressing activities as an addiction--confronting their man with the premise that "if it wasn't an addiction, they would be able to stop doing it for the sake of the family". Well, the act of crossdressing takes many forms, but the underlying reasons why men take on a feminine persona is not about being addicted to satin and lace but is about unlocking the feminine spirit and energy within and fostering and developing it in a way that allows for a more true human authenticity. Julie and Savannah tackle this difficult subject head-on!

In this this bonus episode, Julie and Savannah wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween. If you're a dad to small boys or girls, it's an opportunity to be their super heroine or fairy princess. 

In this episode, Savannah voices her concern to Julie about how many people--inside and outside the LGBTQ+ community--see crossdressers as "just crossdressers". This feeling of marginalization goes beyond just those people who misunderstand what crossdressing is, but extends also to some affirmed women who may have discarded or forgotten they once identified as crossdressers, too. Once deep in those weeds, Julie and Savannah also work with metaphors of the crossdressing journey as a "train with many stations and stops", as well as make a temporary stop to talk about the difference between wigs and natural hair.

In this episode, Julie--after a two-week vacation hiatus--returns with a vengeance to ask Savannah about her first true reveal to a girlfriend. From sharing with her first girlfriend, to the opportunity to try on a beautiful prom dress, to the ups-and-downs of revealing to future girlfriends, to an ex-wife on her own journey of sexual self-discovery, to the present day... each reveal was unique and wrought with its own unique challenges based on the specific age of innocence, the societal awareness and climate at that moment, and increasing and mounting fears or perceptions of possible acceptance or rejection for each occasion. All this leads to how Savannah sees herself now... a human being built on all the moments she has experienced.

In this episode, Julie shares her angst for her upcoming trip to the beautiful state of Colorado--visiting the picturesque locales of Aspen and Denver. After months in a pandemic quarantine, a reluctant social reintroduction, and a two-week trip to visit family, Julie just wanted to buy clothes for the trip that would serve to allow her to feel comfortable, blend in, and just be seen (or not seen) as one of the hundreds of other denizens in town. Of course, Savannah worries about Julie losing herself to a style and authenticity not her own and shares her own worries and struggles of standing out and blending in when crossdressing and out in public. Sometimes, the efforts to be accepted are not in line or the same as being true to your own spirit.
