Darin and Amy Ramos bring up the topic of premarital sex and the Christian teachings that we’ve all grown up with. Darin and Aimee talk about how Christians have been trained to study words and sentences in the bible, but have almost no concept of the essence of the gospel story as a whole. Darin talks about how much it irritates him when he finds book reviews that suggest that “The Misunderstood God” isn’t “scriptural.” The revelation of scriptures essence only comes when a person has opened their heart to love. Unfortunately, we live in a generation where theology, grammatical context and word origins mean more to us than the heart of what’s actually being spoken and the result is the same as it was two-thousand years ago; the actual person of God can stand right in front of us and we won’t know Him from Adam. Being a Free Believer is being a person who’s interest is always in the essence of scripture rather than the theology behind it.

 

Darin and Aimee talk about what holds people back from becoming their true selves and discovering all that life has to offer. The very root of most of our fears is shame. It is used against us from childhood on and it every bit as powerful as we make it. Being people of the light, it is our job to relieve people of shame. Anyone who understands this terrible bondage will naturally want to lift it off anyone in their path. The grace message does this and more.

Darin and Aimee talk about the lost meaning of the word “believe” and how our watered down version of it has stunted our spiritual growth in every area. Relationship doesn’t even begin until “believe” is authentic and the center of everything. Most Christians have been taught to spend their faith on teachings and principals, but they haven’t been encouraged to put their faith in the Person of God. Rediscovering the true power of “believe” is the very definition of relationship with the Father.

The average Christian has no idea just how much of their religious world has been laced with fear. The longer we live in the wild, the clearer it becomes that almost 100% of what we did in the church world was motivated by fear. FEAR is truly the god of this generation of Christians. Darin and Aimee discuss making the transition from the fear-world to a world motivated by grace. Things like prayer, faith, worship, hope, giving and even love have been processed like chicken nuggets in the institution and pumped full of fear, then served to the masses. For many of us, letting go of fear is very much like dispelling cancer or detoxing from heavy drugs. It’s a life or death decision.

 

Darin and Aimee Dassele talk about how many single people have been conditioned to replace everything in life with God. Many of us have been made to feel that if we desire companionship with another human being, we’re doing something wrong because we haven’t found complete fulfillment in Christ. Believe it or not, there are some areas in our lives that God has specifically designed to be lived out with other people. True spirituality is not when we replace those areas with our relationship with God, but when we embrace the fact that He designed us to find fulfillment in people. Unfortunately many well meaning people have been taught that any desire we have that is not centered on God Himself is sinful. This is just plain wrong.

Darin and Aimee talk about what “relationship with God” looks like outside organized religious meetings. So many of us have been given a picture of exactly what to strive for with God. Each of us has been raised in a system that gives us stock answers and expectations. If we take away the clichés and super spiritual pictures of what it’s supposed to look like, what will we have left? For some reason there is a constant tug in each of us to acquire the type of relationship with God that Moses had. We want to see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears and touch Him with our fingers. The idea of Him living inside of us and being ONE with us has become unattractive to modern day Christians. What does the New Testament relationship have over the Old?

Darin and Aimee talk about how institutional christianity constantly looks at issues and makes judgments based on law and doctrine rather than looking at the real heart of the matter. The love of God goes deeper into the individual and has a different answer for each person according to their heart. Learning to function in that love is not something that can be taught or mapped out. Seeing the heart of the matter takes authentic love and is nearly impossible for the religious. This is an amazing conversation about refocusing our eyes to what really matters in any situation.

Darin and Aimee talk about learning the language of the heart and not having to hear things in the prescribed churchy “lingo” we’ve been raised with. Often times people become so inundated with the language and mannerisms of a group they are involved with that they can no longer look past external expressions and see the heart. This is a human problem of the flesh. Heart people can see past any language or action and get straight to the meaning that lies behind. Living in the wild requires us to speak a thousand languages and understand them all. Only through love is this possible.

Darin and Aimee talk about how sometimes we are baited back into the “performance christianity” world with super spiritual stories we hear from traveling evangelists. For some reason there is a part inside of all of us that desires a fleshy relationship with God rather than an intimate internal relationship. Walking away from modern day Churchianity is like putting down a pornography addiction. It continues to entice you and call you back. The excitement of what is promised in the Church sometimes outweighs the consistency of what is actually possible. Finding contentment in the real thing is what it’s all about in the end.
