The Free Verse is a podcast and soundstage for poetry, expression truth and vulnerability. The poetry, poets, and themes explored are raw, essential and incredibly important, from love and loss to self discovery trauma, healing and far more. Each episode will feature poets who perform their work.

This podcast is created and hosted by me, Blaize Thomas. An artist and voracious fan of poetry. I engage them in conversation. These conversations go in exciting, funny, unexpected, vulnerable, interesting and wonderful directions. Through poetry and conversation, this podcast unpacks many of life's most challenging themes. To accompany, a robust and lush soundtrack of Jazz music (as well as an eclectic splash of other genres, but mostly jazz) is featured throughout which is a perfect marriage with poetry. Join me as I explore the very beautiful and powerful world of poetry. This is The Free Verse.

In the premiere episode, poets Nirvona Soraya Galo and Julia "North Star" Mentlik are featured in all of their brilliance. The poetry and conversations left me spellbound and awe stricken. In incredible poem which i've affectionately come to think of as "The Story of the Round Banana" (performed by Nirvona) to musings of "A Serotonin Love Song" (by North Star).
