Surprise! It's a Nintendo Direct! And it sure included a whole lot of stuff, which is very good because Kirby has a new mode just for dealing with it. Did we really need this many ports and remasters for Switch? Probably not, but if we end up getting new Advanced Wars and Front Mission games out of it.....

We also spend probably too long talking about the new hotness: Lost Ark! Fresh off the enduring long term success of developing New World, Amazon decided to translate and publish another MMO for the western market. Sony also bought Bungie I guess, but the slow and shambling advance of Stadia into the great Google In The Sky is much funnier to discuss. Andrew fills us in on his Global Game Jam experience, we discuss all there is to see and do in two very large new games, and see if we can construct a bridge into our hearts with our latest Gamepass Game Club game.

Dying Light 2 is suspiciously close to release, so we talk about the shambling hordes. How badly do we want to parkour zombie fight for 500 hours? Also in the air is the distinctive smell of a new Path of Exile season, the harbinger of lost time. Microsoft is in the news again across the pond, Unity loves dogfighting, NVIDIA gives up, and NetEase caught themselves a Yakuza.

We get snowed in this week with the news of Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard. Is this good news? What does it mean? Will we eventually have to play Call of Duty campaigns on Gamepass for this podcast? How does an Italian senate meeting fit into all of this?

Some brief check ins with Resident Evil and the selection of our next game round out a surprisingly busy week in the middle of January!

Today! We discuss State of Decay 2, the first of our GamePass game club games, the ongoing greatness and horrors of Final Fantasy 14s latest expansion, and possibly the worst (or maybe best) way to play an old game for the first time.
