Hello! If you haven't launched a podcast during the pandemic you're probably in the minority...however, with the Rugby World Cup coming up in September (as it stands), Lucy and Anna wanted to jump on the band wagon to help increase the exposure of the women's game and get women's rugby over the gain line in Ireland and across the world.
In our very first episode we chat about the postponed Six Nations, encouraging factors about the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand, Exeter Chief's recent wins against Saracens and Harlequins in the Premier 15s over in England and the introduction of testing into the league.
Also why the men's Six Nations players are standing 2 metres apart during the anthems before diving head first into a ruck...all explained!
Next week we speak to captain of the Irish team Ciara Griffin, aka Junior, about her love of farming, juggling a career alongside rugby and how she came upon the sport whilst being from the GAA dominated Co. Kerry! There are also funny stories swapped by both Anna and Ciara (one involving a lamb!)
Join in as we launch the Rhino Rugby Star of the Week competition:
Calling all rugby players! We want girls and women players to send us in an achievement they're proud of, whether it's a video from training or a match (back when training was taking place), or a happy rugby memory, a new skill you've mastered over lockdown or a brilliant team photo- make an impression on us and you could be mentioned on the podcast and featured on our social media channels. The winner each week enters the monthly competition to win Rhino Rugby prizes (please note: the prizes can only be sent out to entries from Ireland).
Send in your achievement via @gainlinepodcast on Instagram or Twitter or via our email: [email protected] Good Luck!
