  • TGC: 053 The Game Crafter with JT Smith

JT Smith and The Game Crafter Can Help You!

JT Smith from The Game Crafter really is one of those people that
has done it all.  He has made video games, tabletop games,
along with a host of other products.  He has started several
successful businesses and continues to serve the gaming community
with new tools to help you succeed.

    JT Smith Resources:

    http://www.plainblack.com/jt-smith - One of JT's many

endeavors.  Check out this company as it is a good example
about how someone can grow from corporate work, to freelance, into
building his own company(s). Follow the model!
https://www.thegamecrafter.com/ - This is IT, the place to get
your game prototype or production copies of your game.  This
is a direct to print, minimum copy of 1, printing house that
supplies a ton of services you will need to launch your tabletop
    game project.
http://thegamecrafter.libsyn.com/ - Here the Podcast where JT
and Jeff King give you business tutorials about how to make your
game and insider insight about how the industry works.
    http://www.allusgeeks.com/category/podcast/main-only/ - This
is Jeff Kings Podcast of All Us Geeks.  It is another great
resource to check into for tabletop insight, might, and
    power.
http://www.lacunaexpanse.com/- This is a videogame that JT made and
open-sourced and gave over to the community.  It is something
that he still makes money off of (even though it is free). Check
out this game and its history to see how you can launch your own
software project.  He built this on on the PERL programming
    language.
https://www.upwork.com/- JT mentions the resource E-Lance in the
show.  This has now become Upwork.com.   This is an
awesome place to find freelancers to do work for you cheaply.
I have hired QA people and personal assistants from this site
and been very pleased with the work provided.
http://help.thegamecrafter.com/- Here is a place where JT and his
team have gathered resources to help you with your tabletop game
project.  I thought it was just a better idea to link to it
rather than copy/paste it for your to read here :)
Rich Dad Poor Dad- This is an AWESOME resource for learning how
money works.  It is something I have used personally and JT
recommends starting there too :)  Check it out.

    JT's NEXT PROJECT!?!

https://tabletop.events/ - Ok... so everyone REALLY needs to
check this out.  JT has built several successful businesses
besides The Game Crafter.  On the episode, we hear about
several companies that JT has started and grown into profitable
    ventures.

This is his new company designed to help Table-Top convention

organizers do it right.  I have interviewed several convention
organizers, and it is a logistical nightmare.  There really
aren't any tools that help run conventions smoothly.  JT is
taking that problem on.  Check it out and let him know what
you would like to see. I know he would love your feedback.
